I have an MR-2 running in sump -- I would say the challenge will be for the MR-4 to fit in the stand under your tank. If that problem is solved it is very easy to setup and run -- I have mine in the sump with the BL-55 plumbed through the wall of the sump with a bulkhead. It works just fine -- only thing I would do differently would be to run a pipe through the baffles to have the output of the skimmer on the opposite side of the sump where the microbubbles wouldn't be as much of an annoyance (had to create a baffle system to reduce these bubbles). Other than that it works great.

By the way -- to those of you with the option to add the second beckett to your skimmer -- don't wait ... I just added my second beckett yesterday and --- --- WOW what a difference. I tried adding my IWAKI 100RLT to the system but it was too strong -- back to the BL - 55 ... I am really looking forward to when I can upgrade my system.

Get Andy to build a mr 2 with a 8 in tube because wider is better then higher ,that will fit in your cabinet and work just as good as a mr4 if not better.

OK I'll show you what I have on paper (warning very unprofessional drawings) One of the biggest problems is avoiding microbubbles. here's the first rough sketch, its not pritty:o .

I think the returns are going to have to go to the refugium.

That would work -- you might consider having some sort of foam in the baffels to help hold the bubbles back -- You will also need some kind of screen to prevent snails and other things from getting into the pumps.

Do you think should alter the baffles to make room for a sponge/foam?

You don't have any of the overflows next to the skimmer intake.

Ideally you want the protein rich water from the overflow to enter the same chamber as the skimmer.

Just a thought.

Both the return intake (3600gph) and the skimmer intake(5800gph) are in the center of the sump, I know that some of the water will return to the skimmer but this is all I can come up with at this point, the skimmer will also suck up some of my pods from the refugium when it mixes with the skimmer discharge. Im open to new ideas if anyone can help thanks Bill.

OK, I took the time today and added my send beckett AGAIN. The last time I got every thing plumbed, and all I got was a horrible noise/sucking sound. But I thought I would take my time today and problem solve the issue. Well, I didn't have to. It worked like a charm:)

I've got both air valves open only about 1/5th of the way and it seems to be doing great. Much darker foam, as I'm trying to skim dryer than I have in the past.

Hop and Rock455,

Can you guys post some pics of your skimmers with the second injectors hooked up? I am loking to see how you have them connected and see what the foam looks like.... I hope to order my 2nd beckett this week..

Well here is a pic from yesterday. Excuse the mess, but I'm still playing with this thing. The red strap is just to help support the becketts as I felt that over time, they would weaken the skimmer body with the weight of them not centered over the injector bulkhead. Also all the plumbing is temporary. If I keep this skimmer, I'm going to plumb everything with sch. 80, and come up with a better air delivery system for the needle valves:)

I'm still playing with the foam myself. Trying to see if low water level with tons of air or high water level with less air is the better way for producing skimmate on my system.

I have have the MR-2R and it has worked perfect.

The only thing I could complain about is the huge pump and the energy it uses, but I knew that upfront.

Nice setup Hip == I can't do mine like that since it is under the tank. I went to Lowes and picked up some schedule 80 1" -- the two pieces that I got were the 1" FPT base "T" with the 1" Insert on the "T" part and then a 90 with the same setup FPT and 1" Insert. I had to get 1" MPT nipples to screw them into the beckett 90s. Then I used the threaded 1" flex tube to join all the parts together. Works like a charm == I will post a pic when I get the chance to take one.

For those in the know about such things, I just ordered a 6x12" extension for my MR2. I'm figuring I'll need to extend the becketts up to match the new height, just wondering if there are any other tips or if anyone thinks I'll need the second injector with this new height. Swapping the Mag24 with a Sequence Marlin also, should give me some more oomph.

You do not need to extend the Becketts thay will work just fine were thay are .

the only difference that i notice by having the pipes longer is that u dont get much torbulance but i ran them with out the tube's & it was a minimal amount of difference, u dont really need the tubes up that high.
