I have the Wahoo pump and it works great. Although I am starting to get a bit of noise from it. Not sure what up with that.

Sellout-

Thanks for the heads up.. Single or dual beckett?

Size isn't a big deal (The skimmer's in a diff room), the noise is getting annoying, tho, so the BL's gotta go. (My fiancee is a quiet freak).

You running 1" or 1.5" in to the pump?

Haven't done the mods yet, but very happy with this skimmer so far. My first experience with beckett skimmers. Getting excellent production after only 4 days with Live Rock (from a reefers tank, so no die off). Just thought I'd share.

hi guys,

haven't posted here in a while :D

so here it goes.

mod:
try it with and without, the mod is good if you have a tall reaction chamber, otherwise it will hinder performance cause the top will be to violent to create a nice foam, and skim, the top needs to be calm, that's why you see skimmers using separation plates filled with holes...

when was the last time you cleaned your collection cup barb and drain line?

pvc tip, make sure when you connect two pieces the glue doesn't make like a barrier, the other day change a few things and notice that the beckett was not pulling the usual air, verify with air meter, check all over and finally found it, excess glue made a blockage that block half of the pvc tube,

take care guys,

sam

Mine too, my MRC-2RC skimmer runs great for about 24 then the level drops back then I slowwly turn it up and I mean micro turns, then BOOM!!! it starts pouring out and it will dump about 3 gallons out in 3-4 hours. What gives?

I just picked up a dual beckett MR2 came and a PCX-55

It's a wopping 170w for the PCX-55, I want to minimize the power usages to avoid running new wires, and the # of pumps in my setup.

Can I use a Sequence Dart and split the output for return and 1 goes to the skimmer even though it isn't pressure rated?

yes u can run the dart even though it's not pressure rated it will still work, post some pictures & let us know how good it works.
i used to run a mag18 on my MR-2 & even though it was not pressure rated it di it's job, but when i hooked up me iwaki 70rlt it kicked A . .
now i have a coralife turbo sea 1740.

Steave how big of a tank will the turbo sea take care of ? And could you tell us why you change skimmers?

To get more from you skimmer you need to make the 8 in dia tube 6 in longer and from bottom of the union to the bottom of the skimmer cup 7 in long. A long #2 riser will not help the output of the skimmer only a short one will. Andy can help you with the change.

I added the 8x6 extension, raised my becketts, and got the panworld 250ps for the recirc pump. I did not mess with the skimmer neck though. I fired this up last night and am in awe of what this skimmer can do. Sure it's loud and uses some watts, but well worth what it's skimming out. Thanks RGibson!

For the guy who sold me this....
Wow! Thanks Ereefic! You should have kept this baby. :p

A Funnel for the beckett

A Funnel for the beckett

It would be good if Andy of MRC could put a funnel from the top of the first riser to the bottom of the cup this would help the out put of the skimmer, like it is built now some of the bubbles hit the top of the the first riser. Many skimmer builders used a funnel on there skimmers.Getting more output from your skimmer would mean you could use a smaller pump with less heat and a lower ele bill .

Guys, what difference would it make if I used a Dart which is not pressure rated and my current GenX PCX55 for the MR2?

Will I see decrease in performance?

The dart pumps out 3600gph, I plan on sharing it's output for return and the MR2. Say if I give more flow to the skimmer, say 2k gph would that compensate for the different between the pressure rated and not?

Hi guys, I've been thinking of getting a MR-2 or possibly MR-2R for my 120 gal. I'm currently in the process of setting it up. It'll still be a few more weeks til its up and running.

My question is, I will be housing mainly fishes and some SPS & soft corals. Thats what i would like to that is. I have about 26.5"/28" (if i take out the cabinet floor) of head room under my tank. What are your guys recommendations? Is there a huge difference with the MR-2 and MR-2R? Do you guys direct feed your skimmers from the overflow? recommended? and lastly, whats with the pressure rate pumps over non-pressure rated pumps. Other than the nice price difference. hahaha

Whatever input/advice/tips/info/etc... would be greatly appreciated and i do look forward to officially becoming a member here shortly.

Everytime I see one of the smaller one's go up for sale for more then I paid, I think the same thing. :bum:

I just ordered my 2nd beckett for my MR2. What is the best way to hook it up and still leave room for easy removal and cleaning?
(I am going to be running both off the PCX-55)
SDGuy seemed to have a slick way on the last page. Anyone have a shopping list of parts needed or pics of set-ups???

I have an MR3 running a Gen-x 55 which is installed under the tank. Problem is the Gen-x is a bit noisy, is the blue line any quieter or is there a different pump I should consider?

I'd like to tag along....Is there a real advantage over feeding the recirc skimmer directly from the overflow or just using a feed pump to feed the skimmer??? And what flow rate to the skimmer as well
