the reasond for the U-tube mod is cuz it makes more sense to have the bubbles in the neck of the skimmer then all over the sump + i dont like to use filter socks cuz when i feed my tank i want food to go everywhere.

Anyone know what changes Andy is making to his kalk stirrers or when they will be available? I will be in the market for a new one soon and would like any info anyone has. Thanks!

I seem to be unable to stop a Water leak from my MR-2. It is coming from the Quick disconnect. Is there a secret to getting a tight seal?

Should I replace the o-Ring?

MR-3R

MR-3R

I'm considering getting the MR-3R and was curious if anyone was running this with a Sequence Dart or HammerHead?

Maro. Yes, clean the O-ring in warm water and replace wet. Also try tightening opposite thumbscrews at the same time. Just snug them down then move the the next set of opposite thumbscrews. When all are snugged down in that manner, go back and fully tighten in the same sequence. Works for me. Good Luck

Maro,

2x check to make sure the quick-disconnect is not cross threaded. The threads are spaced pretty far apart and it is really easy to screw the top back on lop-sided. I have found that spinning the quick-connect in the opposite direction until you feel it drop into place usually helps.
I have also found that when screwing the disconnect down you can pull up on it at the same time and that will reduce the chance of cross threading it and get the snuggest fit.

Also make sure you look closely at how it is lined up. If the flanges are not lined up properly it will cause a leak as well ( But once again the threads are placed so far apart you would still be able to tighten it down.)

I just got my cr2 going and I was wondering if water should be making its way up the airline connecting the bubble counter to the c02 injetion nipple? The bubble count is only one bubble every three seconds as per the instructions.

jjmatti & Mark NJ I will try these suggestions. I also orderd new o-rings from Andy.

You might also try lubricating the O ring with saliva, vaseline or silicone grease.

Another question. This week I moved my MR-2 out of the sump on a shelf just above the sump. It is powered by a Mag pump. I am buying a blueline 55 to power it expecting increased performance, but just moving it out of the sump has caused it to skim better than it ever has. WHY is That?

I have a quick question on pumps. I currently run two MR-2 in sump driven by mag pumps, but will be removing them to hook up a MR-3 out of sump. My question is what is a good pump to run it with that will be quiet. This will be in my living room so I need quiet. I currently have a Gen-X PXC55, a Gen-x PCX70 and a Sequence dart that I could use, but I have never run any of these so I am not familiar with them.

Any suggestions?

If you have one beckett the 55 will work great on the MR2 or 3, I have run both. General thinking is if you have 2 becketts the 70 will be a better choice .I have not tried this but got this response from several knowledgable people when I was researching. The pcx55 is not particularly quiet but it isn't real loud either. It depends on your perspective. I would put it on some sort of pad to reduce vibration and keep it in a well ventilated cabinet to cut down on noise. From what I have heard the 70's are a bit louder but I could be wrong.

I have no clue. Maybe someone else will know.

I will only be running 1 beckett for now, although I could take one off of one of my MR-2s and run dual becketts. I have the whole bottom of the stand lined with some stryrofoam insulation that has helped. I currently have 2 mag 18s and 4 Rio HF20 running under the tank along with several ice cap fans, so I am use to some hum, I just want to be sure that these Gen-X pumps won't drive the wife nuts.

As long as you dampen the vibration so it's not carried through the stand you shouldn't hear much over the other stuff.
If it was me on a 375 I would run 2 becketts and the pcx70 but one beckett with a pcx55 will work very nice. That's what I am using now and it is overkill on my tank but I only have a 120.

Thanks fishdoc. I think I may set it up with the dual becketts. I forgot the I could just remove a beckett from one of the MR-2s and use it. Now I just have to get everything finished, so I can start the swap out.
