I just got my MR-2 and have dual becketts. I got the Genx PCX40 but thinking it would fit better if I could run a magdrive in my sump. So what magdrive do you guys think would be best? I can get a 36 but would it be too much? On the mrc site they show a mag 18 but I think that is for 1 beckett? Any info would be nice.

I would say the more pressure against that becket the better. But a mag 36 pulls as much juice as you lighting does. Your going to need to get another circuit put in! Is there anything more efficient then a mag that is submersable?

Here is a cut and paste from a email i recieved from andy.

This is what I would do for your pumps.

For the MR-2R $305 Sequence Wahoo (1500 GPH Pressure)
Return pump Sequence Marlin $340 (3050 GPH Pressure)

I think those would be the best for your tank and system. They are quiet
and more efficient than the BL.

Anyone know what changes Andy is making to his kalk stirrers or when they will be available? I will be in the market for a new one soon and would like any info anyone has. Thanks!

anyone? I never got a response from the email I sent Andy...

Hi all...
I just got a MR-1 for my new 120. I want to use a quiet one 4000 1017gph or the 5000 1330gph internal pump for the skimmer which one should I use? I can't use a external ( no room ) and don't want to use a mag 12 cause of the heat they generate.

I picked up a sump from them and if the quality of their tanks is the same on the sumps, you will be very happy:)

I'm still not sure if I should start another tank project. I would love to get a new tank and have it drilled.

Im just wanting to verify the settings on my new skimmer. I purchased a MR-2R. Its on a new tank and has been setup for 24 hours. I dont expect anything yet, i just want to make sure i have it set up properly.
I have a GenX PCX-70 HD as the recirc pump. I have a mag 5 as a feed pump. I set the water level at 3" with all the air shut. To break it in i have the air all the way open. The water is almost to the top of the flange that connects the cup tower. The gate valve is plummed in to the sump. The sump water level is right below the shaft of the gate valve. Any thing i should change?

My main concern is the amount of turbulence in the riser tube. Its pretty extreme.

Thanks for looking!!

I ordered a kalk reactor last week. This is the 18x8 version with a mag 2 stir pump. As usual this is a beautifully made piece of equipment from Andy. I love his work!

I just received my MR-3R. This IS a BIG difference from the ETSS Evolution 500 which i used to have. Sad to say though, i won't be able to see my new toy in action until at least a month when i finish putting the tank together!!

Can anyone explain why when I soak Nori in Selcon, My ASM skimmer on my 75 gallon tank doesnt flinch, but but MRC on my 180 goes dead for 8-10 hours?
Is this a bad thing?

My MR-2 dies for about 45 minutes... I feed the exact same thing....

Dunno why your results are so extreme. It also dies for about 45 minutes when I feed my corals with Amino Acids and Lipids/Fatty Acids.....

My MR2 dies for about 8 hours after I feed my homemade food. I only feed that once or twice a week, or else I wouldn't ever get any skimmate.

WOW!
I feed selcon soaked food every other day and my MR-6R never skips a beat. I wonder if this is only a problem with the non recirc becketts?

my MR1 stops skimming everytime i feed my homemade food (with selcon mixed in) or soak anything else in selcon. after maybe an hour it comes back with a vengance. i've learned to not adjust anything during these little down times.
