Ok, got my skimmer and now just need to get it configured correctly. Currently the injectors are below the skimmer cup union:

How high should I raise them? Is over the top of the cup too high? Also, will that put too much pressure on the box fittings?

Thanks.

barr beckett in action.jpgHeres some pics of a BARR beckett just look at the design
and apply it to yours.
Raise the towers as high as you can up to 6 feet.
Widden the tubes to 2inches between the becketts
and box is easy with basic pvc from LOWES.[/ATTACH]

Best becketts have a large downdraft tower like the barr
in the pics.
My video i posted is my favorite skimmer which is a ETSS
modded with a beckett.
I like bioballs in the tower as it really takes advantage
of gravity and supercharges the skimmer.
There is to much back pressure on a MRC design which
is a easy fix just raise the beckett tube.
People run way to big of pumps trying to overcome the backpressure
of water in the main body.
A 4 to 6 foot tower is a amazing skimmer with DWELL time that a neddlewheel
is not capable of having.
The sanjay experiment really proves beyond a dought that a tall downdraft
beckett is just a better skimmer then a large needlewheel.....It was not
even close the beckett was in another league.
The problem with becketts is except for old barrs and ETSS modded ones
they are flawed in there design for the most part.

im getting a 12" extension which puts my skimmer height at 38". should i raise the becketts in line with the collection cup like the barr, or is higher than the cup ok to get it to 4'

The higher the better my skimmer is now at 5feet and
is a machine.
You dont need the main tower to be as high as the barr
just the beckett tower look at a etss 1000 as it is a great
one to mod and has a good size to copy.

Which skimmer are you using?

I just bought a used mrc mr 3 r dual stack skimmer. I would like to know if anyone could provide me with a manual. I guess any of the dual stack manuals would do.

Thanks for the help, I guess this make me part of the club

MRC3 IS a very flexible skimmer if you rig it up
as a single beckett it works well also.
Just get a dc1000 it is only 200.00 at PA.
You can run as a single or double beckett setup
and run only 60/80 watts.

My present skimmer is a beckett modded etss 1000 copy
with a very large beckett added......twice the size as a reg one.

Ok, looking to raise my beckett towers 12". My question is, will there be an issue with support? The only thing holding these is the bulkhead on the box where they screw in. I'm worried that raising them that high will make them a little flimsy and put too much pressure on the box.

Now that I saw that custom skimmer, I was wondering if anyone had turned an MR2R into a needlewheel recirc skimmer? I was thinking a large bubble blaster or a couple of the Sicce skimmer pumps. Anyone?

A foot riser is not really going to stress the tower but 2 feet or
higher will require a simple support at the cup area.
Why i love modded ETSS no supports on a 5/6 foot tower.

Well, this thread wen't dormant FAST!! I'm going to try the Mag12 as a recirc pump and see how that does. If that doesn't cut it I'm going to try the BL55.

I'd still like to know if raising the beckets 12" will be effective. Anyone?
