I am using the Reeflo BH1100, but... when I need a replacement I will go with one of the DC pumps (Waveline. Speedwave, Jeboa). I am in process of changing my return pump from a Reeflo Dart to Waveline DC1200.

Contact MRC through their website for parts. Let me know if that doesn't work. One of the owners also runs a LFS just down the road from me... I could pick it up and ship it to you. (No cost, just cover the parts and shipping).

hello MRC users

I just recieved three new becketts from a very good seller on reefcentral and I only wanted the matching beckett for my mrc mr2 but he also sent the ones below.

My question is can i use these on my mrc mr2 or are the only for the MR-2R and MR- 3R Recirculating Protein Skimmer they are a little longer but they will fit the skimmer. also is this over kill for my tank and will my blueline 55 work to push them?

I would like to use them because they come apart for easy cleaning. If not then these will be listed in the selling and trading forum.

He also sent me the one I needed so I paln on adding the second becket for better skimming. can anyone recommend how to affectivly tie them together?

many thanks these are awsome

Hi, folks.

Not sure if this post is still alive or not but wanted to check in with people using the MR-2R. I bought one used a while back when I was planning my upgrade (going to a 250 from a 90).

Are people still using the MR-2R? Are these still good skimmers vs. newer technology? Should I look to something else? I have a remote sump in the basement and not worried about noise. I would like to have something that isn't a power hog but will be sized appropriately for ~350 gallons total system.

I have a BlueLine55 as the recirculating pump but what do I use as the feed pump? The instructions on MRC's site aren't clear here. They just say something about a 3/4" feed line. Does this require yet another dedicated pump or can I run off my return manifold (Reeflo Barracuda/Hammerhead Gold)?

Thx in advance!

No pump needed for the feed line. Just like you suggested, run my feed off of a return manifold. Just make sure to have some kind of valve included so that you can adjust the flow. This skimmer line may not be the most efficient but it works well for my 200+ gallon system. If it ain't broke don't fix it IMO.

Anyone using the mrc mr6r I can get one at a really good price but have never used a becket skimmer or mrc products. Can a neck cleaner be made to work on one?

Skimmers do work in freshwater, they are not as near as effecient, though. Many high end koi dealers will run skimmers with ozone, and it will pull out skimmate. Freshwater does not have the same biochemical properties as saltwater, so the hydrophylic/hydrophobis aspects of the foam is not as strong.

What does this have to do with my question?

That is a BIG skimmer! Rated over 1200 gallons and 48" tall.

I can only answer your question related to an MR2-R... but the big difference is the height of yours compared to the one I had (24"). I believe the answers should carry over to your MR6.

I used the Avast Marine Swabbie neck cleaner. I purchased the You Build (DIY) model and installed it myself. Very easy to do and worked very well. You should have some type of receptacle to collect the skim mate. One that cuts power to the re circulation pump or one with the ball that floats up to disrupt airflow into the container will work.

I have a ro waste collector and the skimmer I'm getting comes with a mrc locker I'll be covered. I'll look into the diy avast thanks.

I'm planning on running the air lines to a 4" fresh air pipe from outside it will be filtered with a big carbon filter.
