I just got 2 add on risers for for my skimmer today..... 24X8 thats 48" tall.

What pump are you using to run that with?

Im not sure on the pump yet or if Im even going to be using them without putting the skimmer outside of the stand. These would be great for someone with a basement area where there skimmer is located...

Yeah, that is where I have mine. I have the MR-3R in the basement. You should lemme have one of those risers. LOL
Would be one awesome skimmer.

Tried to take the beckett apart but it is firmly stick in the housing.

Suggestions? It's currently soaking in white vinegar

Keep soaking it until it comes loose. Chances are there is somting inside the Beckett that does not let the flow of water run through it to make it work.

Thx, eventually it freed up but it was a hell of a fight.

Beckett was mucky inside but no particles or anything. Cleaned it, put it back together again, running fine now so I think that was probably it.

I find snails and all kind of stuff in mine now and than. As soon as the bubbles decrease in the injector housing or monthly cleaning comes up I tear them apart and clean them.

Ya that's the only thing I hate is cleaning that beckett every week or the skimmer does not work right. I wish MRC would make a better Beckett for there skimmers I would buy it in a hart beat.

I am upgrading tanks, and I will have more room in the stand. I'm going to add an 8" riser to my MRC2 dual beckett skimmer. My question is, do I need to raise the becketts? And if so, how high?

TIA!

I cleaned mine at best every other week, mostly monthly. I glued the plastic piece inside to one half of the housing to make it a bit easier to clean and to stop the rattle. The biggest PITA was wrapping the Beckett in thread tape every time i cleaned them. I did not mind the maintenance of the MRC skimmer, it gave me time to dissasemble and inspect the skimmer more often then a needle wheel. I tend to let needle wheels go for a long time with out messing with them. <-lazy

Bubble diffuser

Bubble diffuser

I have a dual MR3R can that Orca diffuser be attached to my skimmer.I did not see it for sale as an accessory.

I have a MRC2 skimmer and I have it mounted in the other room behind my 300 gallon tank. I am using 2” return line back to the sump and have a Gen-X PCX-55HP external pump. The pump has to pump water from the sump about 10 feet.

I am having problems when I have the correct level for the skimmer to get the best bubbles, that when the power goes out and comes back on the skimmer overflows and fills up my overflow container. What would be causing this to happen? Again every time I shut down the system or the power goes out and then comes back on the skimmer fills up with water and overflows. I have to back off the gate valve fast before if overflows. Eventually it seems to settle back down if I don’t touch it. . How do I prevent this from happening? PLEASE HELP>>>

your water level inside the skimmer is to high, turn off the air open gate valve until the water is at a low point in the riser.Turn the air back on let the air rise half way up the riser.

what do you mean by Air open gate valve? Do i completely shut the air valves off. I have dual becketts. air valve on each side. I shut them off them get the water level to what level on the skimmer? At the base just before it starts rising up the riser? let me know

A o-ring on each end of the beckett and you would not have to use the tape.

I still have the problem with it overflowing. i tried putting the water level just below the skimmer box or just below clear riser. I shut the system off and then back on and the water went above the skimmer cup and began flowing into the drain cup. After about 10 seconds or so it comes back down. Any ideas. ??????
