A pressure rated pump would be Blue line, iwaki, or reeflo. A mag 18 pump is not a pressure rated pump. Is the skimmer above your sump water line?

Make sure the unit is clean, change out the cotton in the air intake. It's going to take some dialing in, but I would make the water line about half way up the riser tube and then just adjust the air. I think you might have the water level to high. Try that first. When you have a chance pick up a good pump, such as a blue line 40. You can get them used. Then you will get the performance you were looking for.

I thoroughly cleaned the unit before starting it up, it's only been running for about two weeks, and the air intake is brand new. I can shut off the valve completely and there is no difference in the bubbles produced. I can also remove the air intake completely and put my finger over the hole and there is still no change. The water level is set to 1 inch above the box.

I'm stumped... The only other thing I can think of is your pump. I would give MRC a call, I'm sure they could tell you what is wrong.

if you shut off the valve, cover the airhole, and still get bubbles you have an air leak, try listening at the top of the injector to see if air is leaking in. You might need to replace teh gasket up top.

Sounds like a air leak try putting tape around connections to make sure you have a good seal

having problems with mine. a week since I cleaned it. foaming at the neck, but no skimate in the waste collector.

Great to get this thread up agani. I have a MRC 2R with an iwaki 55rlt. This skimmer is a beast. Love it and it has only been running for a week. Looks like milk in the column. :)

I called MRC and sent them photos and video and through discussion with them found out that I am missing the gasket for the flange on the becket injector. They use the seal for a 1" bulk-head so I will either obtain one of those or make my own. Hopefully this will take care of the problem because I have no control over the amount of air that enters the skimmer.
