MSX skimmer club

If the BubbleBlasters are a direct fit, is there one that is comparable or slightly better than a Sicce without maxing out a 160 body? That would be an interesting setup.

The bb2000 or bb3000. What is the diameter of the 160?

what is everyone replacing their pump with? i ahve an msx 200 and the pump sucks big time. i never gotten good skimmate out of it and now the pump is broken.

BB3000, or bb5000 with extended neck.

what site sells theses pumps? i search yahoo but cant find any where that sells the pump alone. any idea what the difference ijn size between from the bb3000 and the stock msx 200 skimmer pump? i built my sump to just fit in its chamber.

I just saw a thread the other day and they posted pics of both pumps side by side. I will try to find it. I have my octox with bb3000 in a 30long.

Blazing I have never been able to get good skimmate production from mine either... might be looking at the same replacement if I can fit it / if I cannot get my sicce working correctly. I'm also really tight on space.

Do you guys know if the BB pumps can be supported just by the union where they connect to the body ? Or does it need something solid underneath.

It's nice that it's apparently a plug and play pump for the msx/swc/octo

Where is everyone getting their extended necks?

I have the OctoX 200 and am ordering the BB3000. Would the 5000 be the better choice?

Please forgive me if I'm asking the same question again, but I'm a little confused.
I have a MSX 200 with the sicce, I want to change the pump to something better.

If I wanted to put the BB3000 it is plug and play correct?

Is the BB just a more reliable pump or does it perform much better than the stock sicce?

I see they have a BB5000, would that be better than the BB3000 for a 20 body? If so, is the BB5000 plug and play like the BB3000?

If I go with the BB5000 for my 200 i need to get the extended neck, correct? Where can I find teh neck, I don't see it on marinesolutiosn website?

Thanks for any help guys!

With a heavy bio load, what would be considered a "good" amount of skimmate? My 200 is pulling a little over 1" of dark water a day. It is running in 8" of water - is that the "optimal" level? I have it set at were the body begins to narrow.

Yes if you get the extended neck. MSX or SWC site have them. Also Reef Specialty.

More reliable and performs better. Try the 5000 and the extended neck.
If they are not on the MSX site, try swc.

They are plug and play. They come with two different size unions. 200 model skimmers use the smaller one, unless you drill out the body.

Thank you very much for your help!

Can you guys give me the footprint of the 200 with BB3000 pump? I doubt I could get that BB3000 to fit in my sump. It's already tight with the sicce. Also what is the total height with the extended neck?

OK...I need help. My MSX300a skimmer constantly overflows with clear water. I've had the skimmer for about 5 months now. The skimmer on my 210g tank. I originally had the skimmer sitting in 8 1/2" of water. The output was completely above the water. When I had it at that depth, the skimmer would overflow with a very light-green skimmate after a day or so. No matter whether the wedge pipe was fully open, partially open or almost closed. So I raised the skimmer to 7 1/2" depth. Now, the skimmer immediately overflows with clear water no matter how the wedge pipe is positioned. I made sure that the air hose was not kinked and is complete clear. When I adjust the wedge pipe, the water level in the skimmer doesn't seem affected.

What water depth should the skimmer sit in? How can I get this skimmer to start working properly?

What happens if you take the wedge pipe off completely? Sounds like it may not be pulling as much air / pulling more water than it should be.
Or, are you sure the outflow pipe is not clogged with anything? Like a packing peanut wedged in it or something would restrict the flow also. You should be able to adjust from overflowing to bubbles not even reaching the neck with the wedge.
