MSX skimmer club

MSX300A: After 5 years of 24/7 operation, I had an issue with the motor surging and stalling. After vinegar bath, visual inspection, and cleaning I determined it was a problem with the motor windings. Ordered a new pump from MSX. John at MSX was helpful and knowledgable. Supposedly the new pump will use 40-50W vs my pump's 70-80W due to an improved design. It's always good to save some energy/money.

John said he's testing another pump design that is even better but he couldn't recommend it until the tests were over.

Do a search for 'enkamat' I think that's what many folks used to use. Looks like aqua cave still carries it. It's not for the 200 specifically since mesh is really a diy mod. Have you run mesh before? I don't think many still do, the extra air that it pulls is not worth the pump troubles it causes.

Need help. Reviving up an old thread.

I replaced the PSK 2500 pump last year, now I find the ceramic shaft broke. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement. Any ideas on a better pump, etc...?

I love the skimmer. I've had it for 8 years and has always been very effective.

Why not replace it with the PSK1000 skimmer pump? Should be the same male threads as the 2500PSK. The 1000 took the place of the 2500.

I'm looking at the 2500 and I noticed that the outlet is female threaded and the 1000 is male threaded. Could be a problem unless there is an adapter for this.

I replaced with 600. You will need an adapter as threads are different. Or, you can cut off threaded part from the 2500 to fit the 600.
