MTRC Dues for 2011

That's half the problem, If you say anything about the way things are done it's griping!
Your view is valid just like everyone Else's should be, But if you speak your mind on how things are done it is taken as Griping when what you have is a difference of opinion on what the club is for? IMO it's for the members, Not to make vendors happy or make them money and spend the clubs cash on hosting events that others benefit from Like Macna or any other big time event that cost a small fortune to host. I personally never thought this was what the club was about nor do i now. It should be about all of our members that each one of us know personally and what we can do together as a club for each other. Anybody can go on line and buy any coral from anywhere in the world from any body they want without it costing a vast amount of cash laid out by the club to mostly benefit others. yeah it's nice to have these vendors come but is this our goal as a local club to be a platform for others to profit from us having a frag swap. I think trading with each other was the original intent of the frag swap not it being this big commercial affair with sellers coming from all over the country. This is just an opinion but for it to be called griping is why all the people that have been on the BOD or think about trying to become a board member thinks twice and you don't see many do it more than once. And let me be very clear as to what i am saying here that i do not intend for this to be a gripe post just to reply to how these comments are looked at as attacks on people or any thing other than what i think the club should focus on.
I Think that this swap was done very good and everyone worked their butts off to make it a success and IMO it was. All the BOD members that were left holding the bag did a great job at putting this all together and everyone had a great time. I hope to have all paid members sit down and hash out just exactly where they want to see the club headed to and talk about hosting all these huge costly events or stay the small local club with local vendors like AC and Lighthouse and others that have been a part of the swap for many years or spend lots of cash trying to draw these big costly events that the club will foot the bill for? I honestly don't know how many people are for this or against it but would like to see a vote on these type decisions be made by members not just the board going off making this type decision without a vote by all members.
Everyone should voice their opinion as to what this club should be and where it should go from here and be able to do it without anyone feeling they are being attacked personally. I for one have been living fish 24/7 for way too long and need a break so i will talk to you all after i recharge for a while, See Ya.

Anyways the swap was a huge success. We all had fun got to meet new people, see so old friends, got to trade corals, sale corals to pay for new ones to put in our tanks. The club came ahead.:fun4::dance::bounce3::p

As far as card's go. I have access to a card printer that prints hard plastic cards (ones that will not fall apart when you wash them) just like your drivers license. It only does black and white. If there is not a TON of people that needs cards i would be glad to print them up for the club (and could come up with a design if needed). We can date them or better yet have some special stickers you apply to them each year showing you paid your dues. That way each year you just get a new sticker and new cards would only need to be printed for new users. New users could get them in the mail in a couple days, old users could get the stickers on the spot. Let me know what you all think about this idea.

That will be cool would 100 be to many. I don't know how many card we need right now justin has all that info. But maybe 25-40 people will need cards soon. I'll let him know and to get with you.

Just a thought - why not print the cards with a logo, "MTRC Membership card", etc. but don't print specific people's names on them. Then when new members sign up or people renew, a sticker could be issued with name and membership date. Or a sharpie (perminant marker) can simply be used to write the name on the card in a specific spot.

The only thing of value I have to say here at this time is to let you all know from the raffle sales and tables sales I think we covered the financial cost of the swap. I feel it is pertinent to understand this part before a discussion on dues happens :-) Justin can speak to the actuals at the next meeting as the reef central board is not the appropriate place in my opinion.

Regards to all!!
