Ok let's start nominating for this years board. I will not be run for re-election this year. Got to much on my plate and not fair t the club. But I had a great time and got to meet work with alote of very cool people with in the club.

I'll start the the nomination by nominate Chris(fishdoc) for President since he is one of the founding member of the club. I think he will be able to do a lot for the club.

VP Lindsey (pickupman) he did a great job with the swap.

Sec Travis (tkimmons85)

Treasurer Jay(SmyrnaReefer)

Anyone that's a member can vote and nominate anyone.
Also to be clear if you have a desire to help the club and you feel you can help with your experience and knowledge please put your name in and the position you want to run for.

Thanks Zef

Well I certainly appreciate the nomination but between work and college and all my hospital clinicals I wont be able to fully commit to the position. And if im gonna do something I do it right, im all in. But with all time taken up I wont be able to make all the meetings and give the club the commitment this position deserves.

I'd like to nominate someone who actually wants one of these jobs. Who out there really wants to try to make the club a better place?

I didn't know you was going back to school. Good for you bro.

Thanks Brett

I think the board that was elected this past year really wanted to make a difference but there have been a lot of set backs. Good luck to the next board

Sorry Justin, I didn't mean to imply that you guys had any other intentions. When I was elected I was the same way, only good things. The politics and squabbling took the care right out of me though. Leading a group as large as this one comes with its own special set of problems and the people that are going to run for office should be aware of this. I was not prepared, as I think others may not have been.

I tried to enumerate these issues last year and it devolved into a "power struggle" argument. But I think my arguments had some merit, as evidenced by the eyebedam debacle.

So, what Im trying to say is: If you think it will be fun to be part of the group leading MTRC, it is. But its not all reef tanks and flower anemones. Please be prepared for the politics of a large group of people.

i nominate
lindsey- pres
mel- vp
jay - treasurer
and as a new addition i'd like to bring to the table the idea of having one sole person for setting up the meetings and we call it meeting coordinator and i nominate my self and if none are ok with that i think maybe rhett :D thanks

We have that PR person that Leah was doing it. And she started school and a job this past fall. So i tried to take over this part. This past year we had alote of meeting planed but. People quit the hobby, bussiness closed and places changed rules like the church that we were going to have the frag swap at. And we lost 2 board members.
Also we didn't have that many people host a meeting in there home as we had in the past.
I think the next bod should have someone with time on there hands.
Or a 7-3 job.

All I can say for me working 72hrs aweek it was hard to get things done for the club. My bussiness and family come 1st.

i agree with having the time to do it and as stated i do have the time though not many here know me and maybe rhett wouldnt be a better choice but thats up to him if he thinks he could or not.....my self i believe i would like it....i would contact all our LFS to touch base with them and i would also like to contact all our members via phone....if those are willing of course lol about what they would like see....talk about....want and more importantly to find the majority of fee days from work and such....maybe even have plans far in advance that ones that work can set this time aside with thier bosses, schedules.....anyways a few idea among many and ill shut up now and let the nominations continue lol

Guys, I am flattered by the Nominations for VP and Prez! I Had thought I wanted to take the ball and run with it from there, but I dont think I can serve the club in a capacity that I would like to. being at the far end of the area, it is very difficult for me to make meetings and frankly, it would not be worth it to you guys. I have also committed to be the treasurer of the Franklin County Soccer Assn, so that will be plenty of bickering for me (haha!!) plus coacing 6 yo boys team as well. All that said, I will be more than happy to be allowed to plan the swap again next year. I had a TON of FUN doing it this past time and look forward to that opportunity again.

I will however commit to hosting a BBQ in the country sometime this summer (once the tank gets rolling good). I have become pretty proficient with the smoker.

Thanks for the nomination but unfortunately I don't have the time to invest right now to serve the club like it should be served. Between working more hours because one of our doctors will be having a baby, having 2 kids myself and taking a more active role in church I just won't have the time. Maybe at some point in the future I will be able to. I will be happy to help with things from time to time when I can.

thanks, Chris

Just a thought...it might be nice if the president or VP be an indiviual who is retired or semi-retired with grown children...hmmmm, anyone know of such an individual or two... Or, perhaps someone who is self-employed who could be more flexible, might also be a good choice...

I think that the by-laws needs to be updated. There is no mention to a IT persons duties and/or title.
Thought Andy did this. I gues not. But he help or did most of the work on the website. Don't think to may people that are in the club can do things to the site. Have to let Andy chime in on this one. I know other forum will let's us have our know club forum that only paid members can see and post. And the board is the mods. Out of repect of RC I won't say names.

I guess I'll let you slide on this one. Lol

I'm not a member at the moment, but will throw my 2 cents in on the website / IT position. Andy did a good job with the site (creepy fish aside  ) and setup is typically the most time consuming part. I'd probably recommend that he stay in the IT position as he's familiar with the setup and updates should be relatively easy using the CMS that he picked.

For the rest I'll sit back and enjoy the show

Oh I know, I know........BILL!!! I also know that he has a mindset and attitude that maybe this club needs some of.....The way he says the truth and either you take it as ugly or not ugly as it is. There such a thing as being diplomatic, but this bickering and squabbling that happens(yes, even as a new club member I have been exposed and sometimes drawn into the squabble not even wanting to be) shouldn't happen as much as it does. It is good that we are serious and enamored with our hobby; and with that comes in peoples emotions and agendas, yes I know......we are supposed to be adults here and be able to be open to others ideas and means to get the business done; because at the end of the day the job needs to be finished and we should all still be friends at the finish. (We are all here for the same underlining reasons WE LOVE THE SEA AND ALL ITS BOUNTIFUL CREATIONS and WE FEEL THAT EDUCATION AND APPRECIATION ARE THE DOOR TO CONSERVATION).....maybe I am too altruistic, but it really is as simple as that.
