MTRC nomination for 2011

This is Key IMO

This is Key IMO

I'd like to nominate someone who actually wants one of these jobs. Who out there really wants to try to make the club a better place?

I will start by saying I would love to see the Club Move foward in the right direction, Which there are many different views of where it should go! I also have the time to dedicate a lot of time towards this task, But i also have very strong opinions and speak them freely to all with no discrimination to anyone. That being said I am also a get stuff done type of person that if i Say i will do something you can bet your last dollar it will be done. If i do not become the cause of more bickering because of people that do not like or agree with my out look of what the club should be and get these things voted on and implemented (Now) not after 12 months and there still has been little actual change. There is also the fact that there are other people that i think should be nominated for president and i will do that right now.
I nominate Mel for President and I will also accept my nomination for President
or Vice President should Mel win we can work very well as a team and that may actually benefit the club even more.
Whoever is elected must be able to grab ball and run with it and get what needs done going by the one member one vote and majority rules mentality to get things happening.
If you agree with my lets get some changes happening attitude and get things done mentality it will all be good (I Hope) I would also hope that those of you that don't know me personally realize that I have been in this hobby for way more years then i care to admit to and can bring lots of experience to the table. And one last thing my gruff personality is just who i am and never intend to offend anyone intentionally, Well almost everyone no one is perfect!
Thanks Jennifer for you vote of confidence!
Bill

I would second Mel for Pres and Bill for VP. Jesus was a carpenter and I think we need a marine in leadership. I does not matter if Bill was ever in the military, i really do not know, he is a marine!

As I've commented here and there in a comically cynical angle, the statement "Bill for President"...in this case, I sincerely mean it here...Bill for Vice President...or President...

How about Jennifier for secretary...I think you all did a great job with the membership sign-up at the swap...

Do we nominate in this thread and vote at the meeting?

The meeting is about who is nominated and can have a face to face. The voteing will be a full week after the meeting. So people that can't make the meeting can vote. So the Sunday after the meetingwe will have a new board.

Thanks zef

Well, Thank you much John for the heart felt sentiment. I would really enjoy offering what abilities that I have for the good of the club, BUT I am not sure if I would be the best choice in this area....I work full time at a hospital that I am REQUIRED to work every other weekend 12 hour days on weekends so that would shoot half of my required time to attend meetings. I would want to be in a position that I could fully devote my time when needed by the club and I don't think my schedule at work is condusive to this atmosphere. There is also another issue with my schedule at work.....we lost a couple people at my laboratory this last holiday season and we have many "longtimers-(most people that work there have 25+ years at this facility) and have many (220+ vacation hours stashed and more they accrue and have to take every year) This issue ALWAYS leaves us short handed and needing people to flex, pick up extra shifts, and not take time off cause there isn't relief to take it. Not that I am whining it is Job Security which is so desperately needed these days, but I just don't think it would be fair of me to say I would take a position I wouldn't be able to devote my time to.

I thank that Bill and Mel would do great for the club. As of work, I work out of town and would not be able to help much.

I'm not a member at the moment, but will throw my 2 cents in on the website / IT position. Andy did a good job with the site (creepy fish aside  ) and setup is typically the most time consuming part. I'd probably recommend that he stay in the IT position as he's familiar with the setup and updates should be relatively easy using the CMS that he picked.

That's IF Andy wants to continue to do this job. Just cause he did it does not mean that he is married to it (Believe me i have been in the position before and it sucks). Also, yes it is hard to pass on this duty if there is not anyone else with the skill set to do it.

Yes I'm a programmer for a living, but I DO NOT and WILL NOT write in PHP and I'm not asking for the job. I'm just sticking up for Andy, in the fact that he may be tired of being the web admin and we cant expect him to continue to do the job just cause there is no one else to do it. I can recommend other options if it came to that.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to do anything, but I work in IT and Andy is probably one of the smartest / best IT guys I've met. Whether he chooses to continue is up to him, I was just throwing out my 2 cents. If he chooses not to continue, updating articles and events is as simple as choosing an article and editing it and the site is updated. No PHP coding is required. Joomla is cool that way. I was just throwing my vote in for him is all. I don't really think drastic measures are needed, there.

Also I just paid dues through PayPal, so I guess I can vote, now.

Oh i understand that.. I just didn't want him or anyone else to expect that he had to do the job. Like i said, i have been stuck in that position for a club before and it's no fun. I was just throwing my 2 cents in. :)

I would nominate Bill for President, and Mel for VP.

When Bill sets his mind to something, rest assured, it will get done. I think the club would change for the better this year under their leadership.

Cool :) I just did a new site for the Columbia RC club .. . I know what you mean. I think the work itself is fun though.

Geesh that's why I'm running!

Geesh that's why I'm running!

Bill for Pres. Mel for V sounds good. Just not too many Spring Hill meetings please. ;)

Actually one of my new ideas is to have a centrally located dedicated meeting place that will alway's be avaiable if no one wants to host. Zef has already offered his resturant up for any meeting that we want to hold there. Just need to give the man some lunch business to make it worth his while.
And for us southern folk Mel has always said meetings are OK any sunday all the time if needed.
Bill:)

Bill for Pres and Mel for V Pres

Sounds like 2 very good canidates. Bill has the determination to get the club back on its feet again. With someone like him in there, I would'nt even mind being in office :)

Agreed! Bill/Mel for 2011

If Bill's in charge, then I wouldn't mind placing my name in for the IT position. I wouldn't mind him for a boss. heh

I will also give Bill a shot "to put the money where his mouth is"... :)

Mel has my vote also. Do we need to be specific on which position we nominate each for at this point?
