MTRC Officer Election

Wooglin, I'll update the site and put you in a separate category. Maybe "one of the old cogers that started the club"....LOL

As you all know, I'm currently our (knowledge limited) web guy and I'm happy to stay at that position and do the best I can, but if I'm needed elsewhere, I'll step up...I'm sorta kinda doing the Secretary's job description anyway by keeping the site updated (when I can) as to what's going on in the club.

Here's my $.02 recommendation:

Crumbletop - President

c_stowers OR eyebedam - VP

Wayne - Treasurer

coral_reefer_25 - Secretary / Webmaster

mamagoose45 - Secretary / Event Planner (with the understanding that volunteers for our events are a necessity).

If someone else wants to step in and take the Secretary position, then I'm all for that. But I think Moriah would be excellent at "Event Planner".

Anyone interested in taking the Secretary role?

I am happy to run for/ hold the VP position. However, I may not be able to make the Feb meeting. I have a plane flight arriving back in Nashville at 3:50 (and its Delta, so I'm sure they will be late). I may be able to make it to some portion of the meeting, but I certainly will not be there on time.

I am a Network Manager, and have plenty of time to work on the web site and other tedious bookkeeping type tasks, which suits my availability well. I don't make it to every Reef Club meeting, but I do like to stay involved.

I am interested in taking on the Secretary role as it relates to updating the website and other tedious bookkeeping roles.

I would really like to remain the web guy for the club, and I definitely will entertain ideas of others. Geekdafied mentioned that he too, could help with web development. Someone (forgot who) even mentioned the possibility of starting a small 'Members Only' forum on our site. I am totally up for that, but I would need assistance from someone who knows more about how to set that up. Once it is up and running, I should be able to maintain it.

No...I was just referring to how long it took me to update it after the frag swap. I'm back on the bus now, though.

But this is a position that will be voted on, right?

President, VP & treasurer will be voted on. All other positions will be voted on/appointed by the officers after the election.

Ryan,

Any time you need help with anything for the website, let me know. I've been doing that for a living for the last zillion years and Im awesome!! :)

Thanks Chuck. We'll see what happens...the officers may decide to give the web responsibilities to someone else, and if they do, I'm okay with it. Like I said, my knowledge is limited in the area of web development...I can maintain a site once it's up and running, but coming up with new things...that's for someone else.

I'm a LOT more technical than I am creative...I solve computer problems for a living. The fancy web stuff, I leave to someone else.

FWIW I think you've done a good job with the web site & I don't see why the new BOD would change web masters unless you get elected to another position & don't want to take on both.

It's great to see other offers of help though (thanks Wooglin & mariner). We might want to take on a second web master, so there is someone else familiar with the site in case the primary is sick or out of town, etc.

Thanks Chris,

I appreciate that. It would be nice to see our site become larger and more useful to members, so getting some help from other, more knowledgable web people, would be awesome.

I second that the website looks great...

Wow. So many programmers... rsteagall is a programmer, too. At least I'm hanging out with techie nerds (read nerdy nerds:D). They always told me I'd find my niche.

I can definitely tell this is a techno place to be...my husband when I got a new fish....oh wow, nice....but when we got the aquacontroller.....".awesome, cool, let me set that up right now!!"

I've sent a notice of the upcoming election with dates & details to everyone on the club e-mail list. If you didn't get the message, we need your e-mail address.
