MTRC Officer Election

OK now who is officially throwing in there hat for what positions? Are we going to have a time pierod or thread that we can talk about the ideas and stuff like that or maybe sling some mud

E-mail ballots have been sent. If you are current & didn't get a ballot, send me an e-mail so I will have you're address. I will reply with a ballot.

A few I'm missing are:
Kalied20
Apfish
reefer5060

Chuck-you did and I completely forgot... Been wondering why the balance has been $20 higher... I'll get you added asap. I apologize for that. That's been a while ago now... Don't worry, I'll flog myself:D.

Are the three people who are open for any position from the email, willing to fit into any of the three BOD positions?

I had thought I put my name in for VP but I guess I didnt. It kinda looked to me as the top 3 positions are kinda already decided from the email but i will do whatever the club needs me to. Maybe I just read the email wrong.

I think the intentions were for the three who are willing to do anything can be written in for any of the three positions. Sounds like Jason is interested in a VP bid:). Finally, some in stone competition:). Happy voting:).

Same here...I will make it known I don't want to have anything to do with webmaster type stuff. That would drive me to drink...

Ryan are you happy doing the computer type work or were you wanting a change? If I follow this thread right you were still wanting to be involved with the web page things? I know with all the people we have that are IT orientated in my opinion we could have a group of IT people that can work together to create an awesome web page to reflect how we are growing in size and knowledge. I know there has been a lot of Ideas on how to improve things as we grow but we need to also show our appreciation to all the past people that made this club. I know when I first started coming we hardly wore the cards because everyone knew each other and if something needed to get done they knew how the majority wanted to do it now that we have a larger group we need a little more structure but not to leave anyone out.

Yeah, I'd like to be involved, but at the same time, I realize that there are more web savvy people out there who want to change the site and hopefully make it better. I haven't updated it lately because quite a few people are wanting to change it in some fashion, therefore I just haven't spent the time on it.

I also know that we need a secretary and any other position that the BOD decides that we need.

I'm willing to do whatever the club wants me to do. I really like your idea of a group of people working together on the website. It would be nice to have someone more oriented in graphic design, one savvy in the creation and use of forums, and one general 'techy' person who keeps things running, neat and organized on our hosting server.

Are we growing in size? Not to be negative, but I have a spreadsheet from a couple of years ago with a paid membership of quite alot more than we have now.

No problem I think if you look at total people involved you would see there are a lot of people that are not paid members. How many paid members did we have then? I think we will see that go up soon too as people see a value to become members. I think the members also can help with that to show how this club has helped them in all different ways too. I know I have been helped a lot from the other members here.

Well it seems the attendance is up for all the meetings and the frag swap so I sticking with my story we are growing but we have gotten laxadazial on beeing paid members. Maybe we can start a 5 year membership or a lifetime one? Maybe limit the beer at the meeting for paid members?

Limit the beer might be a good idea. I can tell you what we used early on during the first year or so. Every meeting had some sort of give away. Usually it was tied into the speaker. I did a speech on autotop off, and got autotopoff.com to donate a unit for the presentation, the only requirement was that I give everyone a printout with info about their product offering. We also had alot of frag education sessions, where we would teach new members about how to frag different types of corals. We would chip in and get a large coral, frag it up and everyone would get a piece. This gave people a sense of value beyond what they recieve for free in the forum and at meeting in being a member. The giveaways/frags were limited to paid members. Its a good way to entice new membership and entice renewalls. You would not believe the number of people that would pay on the spot at a meeting to get in of the frags and giveaways.

Alot of the corals that are in my tank came from those meetings. In fact some of my very large show piece size SPS came from postage stamp size corals that were frags from meetings.

Here are two pics from some of those frags. The first was actually the size of a stamp and is now the size of a very large bowl. The second orange/red monti has been fragged by me at least four times, once entirely leaving just a small piece to regrow.
