Multibar Angel - Longterm Success

Hey guys,

I recently acquired a beautiful specimen of my dream fish, centropyge multifasciatus (Its not rare, but I love it). The supplier told me that it had been eating pellets, and sure enough, once acclimated, it did.

It now eats NLS pellets, frozen mysis and brine. However, its not exactly greedy, which is why I'm a bit concerned.

For those of you that have had long term success with this fish, what do you feed and what do you attribute your success to?

I would definitely quarantine them though (at least for observation and making sure they are eating well), because I think they can be prone to coming in with flukes.

i have had several in separate tanks, some are pickier than others i had one that wouldnt eat anything but live food. then one which would gobble up anything i put in the tank including my hand. i think if hes eating the pellets your already good to go. thats usually the hardest part about keeping any angel.

I had one for about a year before i lost it to a velvet outbreak (will never add unquarantined fish again) he was fat and healthy. took him a couple weeks to get him to eat, but was eating rods food, mysis and nls pellets everyday.

I definitely agree, that the hardest part is getting them to feed. Seems like mysis and NLS should be good to keep them healthy for a while. Was wondering if any algae supplements are required.

Werks, thats a beautiful tank, and a gorgeous Multibar, sorry for the loss. I'm trying to get mine accustomed to life in captivity as gradually as possible. Still in a dimly lit tank.

I've had mine for about 6 months now. Eats NLS pellets and Rod's Reef frozen ... probably would eat anything. Very bold fish, king of my small tank. He seems at home under normal bright reef lighting now.

That's pretty much the plan. Have him under dim lighting, getting him used to DT lights.

Planning to pretty much make him king, with just a bicolor chromis for company. Looking to find a couple more of those.

thats pretty much how it works with these typs of fish, you need to form the tank around the fish rather than vice versa.
