Multiple genicanthus angles?

First of all, the tank is 6' long, 3' tall, and 28" deep. This tank has plently of hiding places in the rock. I have a small 2" female wantanabe anglefish. There is a beautiful 4" female swallowtail angle avalible at the lfs that is eating and is extremly healthy. Would the swallowtail angle beat up my wantanabe?

They should be fine especially since the smaller watanabie is the established fish.
Mine have never been buddies, but they do get along.

As long as you have a 45 degree, 90 degree together you should be ok. If you have 2 obtuse angles together you may have some issues.

Couldnt help myself...

Haha took me a sec.

Different genicanthus sp. seem to usually do well together. I know someone on here has a tank with 8+ fish from 3 or 4 species.

Out of the female Watanabe, Bellus and Swallowtail I find the Swallowtail to be the most aggressive. When I'd two females of each back in March 2008 the female Swallowtail was constantly chasing the other females. After not having the Swallowtail the other 4 females got along fine till one of the female Watanabe changed to male and he started to chase the other females but the aggression is nowhere close to what the Swallowtail was.

My suggestion is if you decide to add the Swallowtail monitor the aggression and have a backup plan in place just in case.

I have 4 bellus and 4 caudovittatus together, and there is no interspecific aggression. I ahve more probalem with the females. They are women afterall, fighting after one glorious male. :)

Im kidding, put away the torches, ladies!! Diane, You are welcome to come up and see them some time- youre not too far from me at all.

Ok, I'd love to see your fish. The wantanabe is just so small I don't want her to get beat up. Are all you angles the same size? I don't have a male; I've been trying to get one but I just havn't found one yet.

I have a watanabei pair in with a swallowtail pair. They never pay each other any mind after the first day. I would strongly suggest that the new angle be acclimated to captivity before you introduce it - actively eating, swimming in the open, etc. I have had both of my pairs for a long while, just in different tanks.
