Guys just to add on to the intial request how much vinegar do you dilute in water when letting them soak?

Thanks,

Nick

I never mix the vinegar with water when cleaning the equipment. Sometimes I need to scrub a bit to remove some stuff of the equipment I just buy a new sponge (BTW never use a sponge that you used before for cleaning dishes etc) soak it with vinegar and after that I will leave the equipment soaking in the vinegar for a few hours. They always come out looking brand new.

I buy the gallon jug of distilled white vinegar at the grocery store. I put the pump into a container and fill it just over the top of it. Let it soak for a while...maybe an hour or so. I then run it in the vinegar to get any buildup inside moving out. Then I dump out the vinegar and run it with some fresh r/o water and reinstall it in the tank. I have a Rio...I know...bad word...that I've been running non-stop for over 5 years now and it still runs like a charm! Just give it a vinegar dip whenever necessary.

Well did the vinegar dip to all my pumps this week.......Look brand new...:) working better then new...:)

Vinegar is a must for all Reef keepers. I keep 5 gallons in my pantry at all times. Sometimes for cleaning, sometimes for cooking...always good though!

Because I too keep a few gallons of Vinegar at all times it works like a charm.
It's pretty cheap too at places like Walmart, and even cheaper
at Cosco or BJ's.
