My 1st 180 RR Project, Cust Built stand/canopy Tunzes etc..

Last night I got to staining the elec. panel. The only thing left to do is stain behind the panel where the screws are, I guess I was too tired to notice that last night!!!.

This will be installed inside the canopy towards the top of the stand, once the sump is in there...

Heres what it looks like.....

sniffing glue? I am a big baby or cry baby sissy or whatever you want to say when it comes to fumes. when I am not gluing the cap gets screwed back on tight. headache city otherwise
jamie I do not have a snapper I am waiting for one to come in for me with an american motor. they had only 1 or 2 in the warehouse with them and I specifically can't stand the fact that they went to mexican motors because american motors cost more. it costs $45 for a mexican motor instead of $90 for the american baldor motor. they are trying to stay competitive but I say if you build a good reliable and efficient pump how can it not sell? the wet end and motor are exactly the same on both pumps. the impellor is the only difference . I am running a tunze recirculation pump at the moment but it is right behind my head and a little loud for that and it is not made to shut off 3 times a day so it just doesn't fit my application very well.

Rob that was just a joke, we know ya had the top on it at all time when ya werent using it!!!!! I am noticing that my son has the twitches this morning!!!LOL Glue???? J/K :D

Hey Rob that hole needs to be drilled in the back of that sump not the side right?

in the right side is where we talked about it going and made the pieces to fit. put the sump in and slide the pump toward it and it should hit right were you need to drill after leveling it and lifting it with a vibration dampener like a mouse pad or isolation pads. maybe I said back corner meaning in the side toward the back corner.

OK cool, Unfourtunalty I have to put everything else on hold till this tank gets drilled. Im pretty motovated this morning and it stinks that I gotta wait!!! LOL wish I had my own bits for that.....The wife and I are going to put that 75 in the stand and mark the location of the hole. Thanks

Tank is in place and hole marked, I took your advice Rob and put some sound dampining on the bottom of the pump, everything fits 100% PERFECT!!! Its like that stand was made for a 75 with that pump and all the plumbing.!!!! Put the MH's in the canopy and the elec. panel is all done. So by next weekend this thing will be running. :D CANT WAIT!!! Getting alittle anxious to get this going as you can all tell. I have made so much progress in the last 2 weeks thanks to everyone who has been helping me with this project!

mike I talked to john about the bulbs he said don't run them and if you have the packaging bring them back and exchange them for the actinic or blue bulbs. or deal with the difference if there is one. those names are confusing to me and I have been running them 9 months. if you don't have the sleeve someone will buy them here.

OK thanks, ive got the packaging for them.

Im starting to fill her up!!!! Just about 2 days to fill up is what I think it'll take...

Glad to hear everything went ok with the plumbing and that everything fits underneath for your sump. Can't wait to see some pictures of your sump finished in action. I'm in the process of building my sump for my 55 gallon tank, its going to be a 30 gallon that I got to fit under my stand with alittle mods to my stand. Will get on the construction once I have all the parts and equiptment. Looking forward to seeing this monster filled with water, sand, & LR

Yup Im happy as well!!!
Well heres the monster sloooooowly filling up after about 3 hours!!! Its going to take about 2+ days!!! Thats for the tank and sump fill up......

Heres a pic of the pain staking waiting till she fills up!!........

congrats on finally getting some water in the tank. you are moving along very nice. also i love the way the stand and canopy turned out very beautiful.

Thanks, Yes it did turn out nice, Im pretty happy with everything, Sam thank you for helping when you did escpecially in the beginning. I wouldnt be in this position without everyones help, well I take that back I would of had it filled up with tap water the day I got the tank (almost 2 months ago) and my tank would consist of lots of brown crap and slimey crud and all my corals would be dead!!! So I think it worked out better ,that I took it slow asked LOTS of questions and got some good input and did this the right way!!!! THANKS :D

where's the pics of the finished plumbing?it turned out very nice.good job mike and the friends that helped you out.

It will be all finished hopefully tommorow. Im waiting for a friend to come over and drill that 75 (He said he will be comming by Monday), than Ill get everything completed and take some pics of it.

Its amazing how much help I had with this setup, with everyone helping me with all the equiptment selection and the plumbing. and just plain ol good information. The only thing I can take credit for is the stand and canopy! But thats ok because everyone has to start somewhere and maybe now I can help someone else thats just getting started. Thanks all, and that goes for you also Paul, for the lights.

WOW this is really a sloooow process!!! Well we did some calculations and we figure around 4pm ish tommorow it should be filled up to the top of the overflows.

Time for a power head in there..

hey mike don't forget the salt ;) . just kidding. I might start adding salt now though just don't go far over 1.026 because it can cause things to fall out of the water like calcium and other elements. I would take a cup or 2 of water from your other tank and put in there also. might even add a small piece of flake food to help get things going.

OK dookie!!! Jamie is on his way over to cut a hole in the sump and the tank is almost half full and I found a Maxi-Jet 1000 and a 300 watt heater I stuck in there for now, so now theres flow and a stable temp!!!

stable temp? remember you live in florida . I haven't had a heater in over 5 years of reef keeping.I bought one and it burned out fast that was that. my tank temp never changes more than 2 degrees in a day. got it down to about 1.5 right now with 2 fans at 70 cfm each. your pumps will normally keep it warm enough at night and then during the day you need to keep it cool. turn some fans on with your actinics and if you set the fans up right it will be just fine. a 100 watt heater is just like adding another snapper to the electric bill. you will need closer to 300 watts I think so 3 snapper pumps to the bill. any troubles I have are not because of my temp .
good luck with the hole cutting.
