Guys, i need advice on how to reduce po4 level without depending on rowaphos all the time. is algae turf scrubber better than refugium when its to be place at direct sunlight, since i don't want to add more MH, when we still have the sun..

HOLY SH!T was the 1st words when i saw this tank, yes algae scrubber and refugium use both of them. look at this months tank of the month, thats what the guy uses and both with sunlight as the tank is an sps tank lit by sunlight

I looked exactly like gmate's Kramer avatar when i saw that. That thing is wicked man.

The only difference if you were to place the ATS in the sun is you wouldn't be able to alternate light cycles like you would in a refugium/in-house ATS for the PH balancing effect. I'm sure with all those fishes and softys, you feed a ton, and i'm pretty sure your ATS would be able to handle all that food and lower your PO4. GL and your tank is amazing.

Hai Guys,

forgot putting the details cause i'm quite worry with my po4 level.

my water parameter according to last week was undetected ammonia n nitrite, 3ppm no3, 0.4 po4, 400 ca, 9dkh, 1000 mag, 1.025 sg, right now ph is 7.94, 25 celcius,

volume by liters is 11.000,
5000 liters 1.5m deep x 1.2m tall x 2.3m width MT,
6000 liters of sump completely covered by 16 cm deep maze pattern dsb (include 60cm2 chaeto refug lit with 1.2 mtr white t8) and dead rocks (below my living room),
1.6mtr 8" air booster spray injection md70 skimmer,
large fluidizer with full of biopellets,
3hp hailea aquamedic chiller,
2 housing of 288 x 3 watt of 10% red, 40% blue, 50% white led (unfortunately without good reflector lens),
2 housing of 12 x 3 watt of blue led with 45 degree lens,
100 watt yellow mh led (i don't know how to call this type, just buy and plug),
2 hp return pump run alternately,
5 resun wavemaker,
ph probe controller
aquamedic doser for iodine, strontium and coral food
500gram of carbon
500gram of rowaphos (which not reducing my po4 level from 2 months ago)

supplements : most of fauna marin supplements, zeo's pohls xtra, b balance, zeobak, some of brightwell supplements, coral amino, microvore, formula one, formula two, cyclopeeze,

quarantine tanks : with ab5000 skimmer, heater and full bp fluidizer.

Could you show us more pics of the tank, maybe standing farther back so we can see the whole thing in the room its in, plus some pictures of the equipment and filtration?

Amazing tank!!!

oh ya, my lamps on from 3 pm to 12 pm in the night, start from soft to brighter lights, so ats with sunlight with have reverse light which have ph stabilized effect.

need helps with how big ats do i need roughly by analyzing the inhabitants of corals, fishes and water parameter ? since if i'm not so good with maths, got quite confused with the ats calculation, when trying to focus reading about ats benefits and side effects, i got astray to any other reading beside of ats... (my bad)...

thanks for all the compliment, although the tank is far from what i wanted to be.

more pictures later, guys..

And now is US Units:

volume is 2,905 US Gallons
1,320 gallons 60" deep x 47" tall x 90.5" width MT
1,585 gallons of sump completely covered by 6" deep maze pattern dsb (include 23" chaeto refug lit with 48" white t8) and dead rocks (below my living room)

Going by the general consensus for ats, you would need about 242 sq ft for your system. If you can light both sides of it with the sun. Otherwise you would need twice that if only lighting one side. I don't know if that is realistic, but I think you could get away with a bit smaller if you are combining it with your other natural/mechanical filtration.

Definitely go as big as possible. Good luck. I'm actually surprised that you're having phosphate problems at all.

We should try and figure out where they're coming from before jumping to a giant ATS. Are you feeding too heavily? Your filtration seems more than adequate. What water are you using for water changes/top off? Have you run a tds meter on the water before adding it, at the very least a phosphate test?

yeap... i haven't test my new water since its NSW. i use my swimming pool for dsb, and because of i haven't supervise the adjustment to dsb, there's a leak in pool, so i have to use 5000 litres NSW every month to compensate the loss of the leak. i still haven't figured where the leaks is. because its already covered by dsb. hopefully someday i can find the leak. hahahaha... already a month since i run rowaphos and rowacarbon filtration to the NSW reserves, but i can't make my phosphate lower than 0.4. that's why i put more another kind of filtration which i have readt is really effective against phosphate instead of other new kind of technology.

if its not good, then i have to buy new better skimmer for this, hahahahahhaa...

Hello Bas, good to see you here mate. Well done on the tank. I see you did some nice improvement. Good job there mate. And love those Donuts lol look yummy
