International Marine Aquarist Convention
It was in Chicago this year...all the pros gave lectures like Eric Broneman, Robert Fenner, Stephen Pro, etc...

www.theimac.org gives more info. But its over now unfortunately

Thanks!

Thanks!

Actually these shots are pretty poor. I am going to have to take new ones....i am disappointed in these.

thanks though!

try cutting off the flow completely ... return pump and all! Give it a second and any inflatable coral will turn out gorgeous. However I think these are still decent :D

Need Help!!!

Need Help!!!

OK so i have an existing 20 Long pretty much stocked. It has a HOB CPR skimmer and HOB CPR Fuge...also 2 MJ600's runnin for flow. I am getting tired of all the ugly pumps.

SO my question:
I want to get a sheet of black acrylic and make an in tank overflow for the HOB skimmer and fuge...i dont want to drill or anything as i already have the HOB stuff. I would then use the two MJ's and Loc-line to pull water out from behind the fuge. I know it wouldnt be terribly efficient and some clean water will be recycled back into the skimmer, but my tank is only a 20 L and i think the skimmer can handle a little inefficiency. My main fear is matching the inflow from the overflow teeth to the outflow of 4 pumps (skimmer (MJ1200), fuge (rio 400) and the 2 MJ 600 for return). what do you guys think??

i will take any and all advice!!

Jamie

So you're wanting to put a false back inside of your 20L?! I don't understand the "matching" part question, perhaps you're confused ... whatever your pump returns into your main tank is the same amount of water that will overflow. However for return it's always a good idea to use only 1 pump.

I am going to try to sketch out a possible design tonight after I sit on the idea and run through the possibilities ...

if you are tired of looking at the pumps, try hiding it with some live rock. I ended up drilling my tank, but still had the powerheads so I set up the rocks and hand picked a few pieces from my lfs to I could hide the PH. I dont know if it would work for you but it is an idea. I would show you mine but my camera is dead. Instead of buying a new one, i think i am going to buy some sps instead. Back to the live rock, I say a guy who had a "wall" of live rock that was attached by zipcords to a frame. Really nice looking and it was kinda like a false wall because you couldnt see the back of the tank.

BTW it might be a bit late, but the prizm skimmer is priceless. I understand your frustration and assumption that the prizm was leaking. The O-ring of mine warped and sent about 6 gallons onto the floor. Luckly i it just lowered the level of the sump and made me do a water change. Good luck!

The prizm is gone....had an accident with the wall

As for hiding the pumps...i may try that but i am pretty bored so a little DIY project like this may be perfect. Also, these are a lot of pumps to hide... MJ1200 for protein skimmer, rio 400 for fuge, two MJ600's for flow...i would rather put them all behind a wall and use loc line to return the water to the display...

just worried about biffing it.

So cocoa, where is my design?? I am extremely adepts at being unoriginal and an avid plaigerist!!
