Lol, there have been plenty in between.... lets see, 29, 55, 75, 125, 30 cube... i think thats about it. haha

Thanks for looking.

Also have a question, I asked a few sources that didnt think it would be a problem but I figure I should ask anyway. I placed 6 cinder blocks under the stand to raise it up. I put the blocks so the opening is up, and put a 2x8 across them and then set the tank on top of that. Anyone see any problems? Thanks

Drywall complete....

And the tank starting to fill, also have 1 250w mh on.

Did you fill the cores of the blocks? When you say openings up, I assume that you would be able to fill the blocks. If you have not filled the blocks, you may want to look into doing it. The blocks may be strong enough, but core filling them obviously makes them stronger, but also locks the blocks together better.

I would contact your supplier of the blocks and run it by them, to see if they believe that the product will sufficently take the weight. My guess would be yes it will, concrete blocks do take a good load.

Hope this helps, let us know what they say.

Cheers

No I did not fill the blocks. So far everything seems to be doing fine.... and I would rather not take it down to fill them if its not necessary. But any other input on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks

WOW!

You made great prgress!

This is going to be fun to watch ... good luck!

Thanks! I hope to have the tank up and running by the end of this weekend. Putting the mud and paint on hold till my wife decides on the colors lol.

Ok... I'm going to need some ideas on the aquascaping. I've been looking around today but cannot decide on what to go with. I have 3 main ideas.

1) Wall of rock look. Like this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=373673

2) The "valley" look. Like this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=553571&perpage=25&pagenumber=35

3) Or the "pillar" look. Like this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1025029&perpage=25&pagenumber=13

I would say atm I'm leaning to the wall look.
Thanks for the help.

Probably impossible for us to help you with that other than to shout out opinions. I personally don't like the rock wall look. I like the other two ideas better. But even with that said, each comes with it's strengths and weaknesses. I also feel that each of the three come with a cost of different flow considerations, which could roll into filtration considerations as well.

So taking that into account, may in fact help to make the decision for you. One thing that I like to do is plan for the future. What are you going to put in the tank, where and will it have room for growth. Sometimes it's hard to keep the vision through the build process and things are constantly changing, both in the tank and in your plans:)

It will be mainly SPS, a few softies, couple tangs, and some smaller fish. I like the bb idea but i want to look at sand so i will prob. have a ssb. For flow I currently have a seio 1500, tunze 6080 and little giant 1400gph on a cl. I will be replacing the LG with a sequence dart or hammerhead.

It was brought to my attention that I may have trouble accessing the front pane, and that I should think about adding panels above the front of the tank. Well thats not really the look I wanted so I came up with this... now keep in mind the supports are not finalized just a mock up to see if it would give me access to the front panel. And it does...

I will have the light rack on a rail setup to allow movement out of the way.

And a shot of the current rock work.. I'm sure it will change, many times :D

From what I can see of the cinder blocks, you shouldnt have any problems. They can still be filled if you need to without pulling the tank down.

The last pic of your aquascaping looks good. I am not a fan of the wall look. I think its better to have open spaces, not only for the fish, but it gives a bit of depth perception. That should give your corals plenty of room to grow without touching. It would be easier to maintain, and the flow will be better around the tank.

Some more pics. The tank is up and running at this point. I still need to add a lot of equip but it is functional. My right light appears to be a problem so i will need to swap it out.

Sump, skimmer, and some plumbing.

Thanks for the kind words.

One pic with the bulb replaced. (Had the wrong bulb in, wish they labeled them better lol). And for those wondering the lighting is 10k on the sides and a 15k in the middle. I will also add some actinics soon.
