Thanks, I cant wait to host a tank tour.

Really Nice, I'm actually in a similar situation, my new 650 Gallon starphire peninsula tank is being built as I type (8 to 10 weeks :( ); all my Deltec equipment is already home and 800 Lbs of Tonga Huni are already on order... It just takes forever... Does it???

Best of luck, is looking nice.

WOW! Sounds like an awesome setup. Im not sure I could have a tank built, I'm way too impatient. Probably not the right hobby for me. But I love it. Hopefully it will teach patience but no luck in 3 years so far. ;)

:p Yes indeed... I cant even sleep any more

Haha at least try to rest up a few days before the tank arrives.

Ok tonight I added another 2x4 across the center and put joist hangers on all the crossbraces. I think it should be ok at this point. I will get some pics of it tomorrow. I also plan to finish filling the tank tomorrow and will hopefully have the sump and skimmer going by the end of the long weekend.

Also have a question for anyone that has ran an OMS 4way. Is it normal for the top of them to get pretty hot? It also will make a click noise every few seconds. Is this normal? Thanks

The top of the motor does get pretty warm. I can hold my hand on it for about 5-8 seconds before it turns to discomfort.

As far as the clicking goes... No it should be dead silent. Mine did the clicking once when I got the magnets in wrong, also one may have come out.

Take the top of unit off (the gray part) with the two nylon screws. Pull the drive unit out. It should have 8 magnets in it. You will know if one fell out as it will be stuck to the others. If all the magnets are there, pull them all out and stick them together like a roll of certs. Then when you put them back in, take from the top of the stack and put the first four in the N, S, E and W positions. Then turn the stack of magnets over and put the rest in. Basically you will alternate magnetic fields as the magnets go around. OR + - + - + - + -

I hope that makes sense, let me know if it's confusing:)

Thanks for the info. The temp seems correct then. I will check on the magnets, I didnt hear anything the first few days but yesterday when I was adding the brace I heard it.

Ok I just checked the oms 4 way. The top was acually loose and more than likely the problem. I took the top off and looked at the magnets, they where small and round and appeared to be in place (I could not get them to come out) So I reattached the top and fully tightened it. Now I just hear the water running through it. =) Thanks again Hop.

Small Update

Small Update

Well I need to pickup the pace.

A few new pics. All the CL plumbing is done but I forgot to get a good pic of it. I hope to finish the sump in the next few days.

This is the "sump" room. A little small but should work ok for now.

The tanks current placement.

The top will be open and the bottom of the stand finished. I will hang 3 250w pendants above the tank. The room is going to be a relaxation room. No tv, some book shelves and maybe a radio. I have yet to decide on the substrate.:D Debating BB and SSB at the moment. I have not had good luck with BB in the past but the equipment was not this good. I really like to sand "look" and already have the sand but dont know if I want to take the risk with an acrylic tank. Thanks for looking.

Nice looks good! I've got the same dimension tank in works as well. can't decided between bb or DSB (but i'm leaning towards dsb at the moment)

Question. I am going to run 3 250w aquamedic pendants. My tank has eurobracing with a 8" center brace. Will it be a problem to have a light right above the brace? Also how far off the top should I place them? Thanks

Yea ive decided at this point to leave it BB. Its easier to add then remove sand.:D So if I dont like it then I will go SSB. I also changed things in the sump room a bit so I have a little more room to work.

Can be... Too close and obviously it will melt and/or the acrylic can craze and weaken... Too far away and you will have an unbalanced lighting effect. You may want to have another piece of acrylic made that matches exactly like your top and then space it 1/4" or so above your tank. Then it would act like a heat shield and any damage done would be to the extra acrylic, not the tank.

This was suggested to me when I was setting my tank up and well... I still have not got around to doing it
