Hi my fellow sps-nerds:dance:

Thought it would be a good idea to present myself, by showing my tank..

My reef:

Home-build DT 240gal, approx 51x40x27 inches. Frag-tank 22x31x16 inches
Skimmer: BK supermarine 250
Circulation: DT, gyre150, 2x tunze6095, 2xtunze6055. Frag-tank 1x6095
Return pumps, tunze silenze 3000/2400
Lighting: DT 3x maxspect 160 16K + 2x54w t5
Frag 4x39w t5
Calcium reaktor: Grotech hcr200 + hcr150 as piggy.

Location: Denmark

A FTS from last night. A lot of work trimming corals, because of the steep columns they end up stealing light from each other. Starting today I'm removing most of the corals in the red circle, to separate column from background once again.

Pics from last night.

½ years ago, a little less blue light.

At that time, the column and background was still separated

And i like to make frags. Here in EU rarities are a bit hard to find. But they do hide in shipments, often as uncolored aussie-acroes.
I do like the feeling when something beautiful turns up from a brown/white coral. I think i have found a few nice ones so far.
Here are some of my frags.

Frag-tank fts.
Not up to date, but you get the idea :) DSB bottom.

Cheers :)

Great looking tank peder:thumbsup:
Thanks for sharing
Your frag tank looks like indeed you have found some gems

What are your routines(WC's etc) and parameters(Ca,kh,etc)?

Thanks Mike :)

I do a 50gallon change every week.
Use an iodine supplement on a daily basis.
Ca. 430, kh 7,5 and Mg 1350
I try to maintain 2-5ppm nitrate and 0,02 phosphate.

M007. Happy you like it :)

Thanks for the extra info peder:beer:

Agree with M007 regarding the aquascape. It looks awesome and so natural.Great job there too!

Thx both :)
I like how it turned out, but the steepness of the columns does create some difficulties when placing sps corals.

Thanks :)

I just received a small frag of what should be the ora red planet. Hope it turns out to be just that.

Wow, stunning system! Can you post a photo o fhow you have the display tank light setup?

You've acquired some amazing pieces.

What do you dose other than iodine? What do you feed the corals and fish?

Hi sahin :)

Thanks!

Sure, here is a picture:

I feed the fish lettuce, frozen artemia, lobster eggs and dried flakes. And reefpearls every night for sps, nps.
I try to use as much as the aquarium can take.
Right now, I use a little less, since the aquarium appears a bit prone to cyano attacks, since I removed some corals an added 15kg of new dried rock to the system.
I use some dissolved NO3 and PO4 to maintain the values, when I'm not feeding heavily.

The rocks added, was cemented to the columns as new shelf's for sps.

I made an error and placed stuff like monties too high on the columns.
Notice the green plate to the right.

A little over a year later.

Now replaced by a new shelf for acro´s

The frag-tank DSB.

Its a big help, no need to clean underneath the frags.
Lots of small tubes, chaetopterids, keeping the bottom clean.

Produces a sufficient amount of food for this guy and my 6-striped wrasse. Despite small water volume.

The DT strategy is to cover the bottom in coral over time.
Lots of patience needed :)

Hi Peder, beautiful tank.

What percentages do you run the Razors at, and what schedule? What T5 bulbs do you use? Thanks!

Hi there markalot. Thx for the kind words.

I run my lamps on a program similar to preset 1, but set at a max of 95% on both channels.
The t5 bulbs i use are the "giesemann actinic blue". They really make the red color pop.

When running multiple led clustes, like I do. My recommendation is to pay attention to your aquarium layout, when adjusting your power output.
I use tall columns. That means the block out the overlap between the led-clusters, and thereby means less light reach down into the aquarium.
Without those columns, especially in the middle, i would have full strength all the way to the bottom. Multiple clusters means no light loss under the central clusters, as their loss through dispersal will be replaced by their neighbors.
Light settings are to be copied with caution ;)

Welcome Peder! I confess, I wasn't a big fan of the columns in their initial setup, but now they look so lush and beautiful covered with corals! Very nicely done!

Thanks :) I'm happy i could turn you around.

Sure are some nice pics. You have some mighty nice looking coral.
Thanks. :)

This forum is very bad for the acro-addiction.
My wishlist has grown out of control :)

You have avery nice set up. Congratulations. What are your water test test results? Are you happy with your LEDs?
Thanks.

I'm aiming at NSW.
Kh 7,5
Ca 430
Mg 1350
NO3 5
PO4 0,02

From the lab tests i do from time to time, i know my iodine is a bit low in spite of my daily dosing.
Br is another element always low. I add a bit of that as well.

I'm very happy with the leds.
At first, I preferred the t5 setup i use for the frag tank. But from what I've learned, It's all about finding the right spot under the leds. They give of so much, visible hard to detect, par.
My procedure with new arrivals, is to cut them into as many frags as possible. I then try out different light levels, in both tanks (or actually 3 - one more frag setup in my sump, i forgot to mention).

(Sump frags 50/50 blue/white led spot, and 2x24wt5 - older picture with a few pale new arrivals.)
I like to grow all corals from frags in the DT anyway. Looks more natural IMO.
Very often, my first guess about where to place a coral in the DT turns out to be wrong. Not that they die or anything, but chasing the color of a frag, in one of the other tanks.

Merry x-mas
