i recently came across a free 29 gallon tank from my friend and there was a planned frag swap in san diego on the following saturday so i decided to set it up!
the tank is a simple 29 galon glass tank but i decided to make it something "special" So i got some water at a new fish store in murrieta(which i started working at today!!
) and made arrangments for getting live rock and a heater and a ride to the frag swap(thanks Ron!) so it came saturday and i had set up the tank with rock and a heater ( i know nothing fancy, yet) and we drove down to san diego.the trip was about 2 hours and we got lost because they made two palm ave.'s within about 5 miles of each other,we had no idea so we drove around for a half an hour alreading being late for the fun. we got to the swap at about 6:15 and the event had ended at 6:00 but there was still some people there and the prices were great so i jumped on the opertunity to get some stuff so i picked up 2 mushrooms, 4 heads of xenia, 2 frags of GSP a clown fish( i know now the tank wasnt ready ;() and a seio 820 all for 90 bux! so over 3 days of pain the clown had passed
but i had already gotten another, bigger one before the first one started showing signs of not doing well. hes ok but hasnt eaten yet (like 4 days !* bites nails*) so i figured i wont get any more fish untill i know any little cycle had passed. also i got like 7 frags of 1-2 polyp zoos at crystal cove (the fish store in murrieta) for 15 bux!
all the corals are doing fine and actually the GSP have already grown! ill have a 250 watt 20k metal halide over it within the next 2 days (today would be nice!) but the corals are doing fine under the natural light that comes through my apartment during the day so im not too worried although i know beteer sooner that later! i will get a black background soon and some sand and a skimmer( know anyone that has a good one for cheap?) and some more powerheads! but for now i like it the way it is and ive already blown close to 350 bux
(thats a lot for a 14 year old!) o well enough talking , here is a picture(the clown in the pic is now deciest(sp?)
