My 29 gallon tank

Nope. I am going to get brackets like for shelves and drill them to the wall where the back of my tank is, and either place the light on them, or hang it somehow.

Heres some updated pictures:

Sorry for the crappy pictures, but you get the point. I have algae. Are those diatoms or dinos?? (please say diatoms, and its completely natural, and my tnak is just cycling.) I have heard Dinos are terrible, so I am hoping that its diatoms.

????? Not too sure what was meant by that last reply. Anyways, what type of cleanup crew do you suggest?? I was thinking just Ceriths, Astreas, and Nassarius. But how many of each type??

probably all sanils above, 2 emerald mythrax crabs, some scarlet hermits, some kind of shrimp like a cleaner, a couple of peppermints, or some fire shrimps and maybe a sandsifter of some sort? maybe even some mexican turbos snails. not sure how many of each type but you can go on manywebsites to check out how many they sell in their packages to get a general idea.

I was thinking
Coralife Super Skimmer: 87.99
AC110 (for fuge) 44.99 Or shpuld I go with the 70??
And m cleanup crew, and the test kits and supplements needed to keep a coral (suggestions needed) and a frag

that skimmer works wonders .... especially for the price...i have the css65 on my cube and its working great (not to jinx myself or anything)

Go with the 110 for the fuge...or the bigest you can get...

OR...

look at lighting.

Ok, thanks Alien. I did just get a Current Nova 24" HO T5 96W fixture, so I am set on lighting. I know its not the greatest light fixture, but I like it so far. Ok, now for some more questions:
1. Does a skimmer help to keep nitrates down, or would I need a fuge??
2. I am planning on getting a coral sometime this week (probably zoa's, or a frogspawn.) Now, what do I need to do as far as adding supplements, testing, etc.?? I know I need to drip Kalk to keep my Calcium up. And I know I need to get a Ca test kit. What else do I need to dose/test for??
3. Also, when I drip Kalk, how do I go about doing that?? I was thinking of keeping a big gatorade bottle filled with Kalk and water over my tank on a shelf and slowly dripping it in. Is this a good idea??

I got the Coralife CSS65 also and it really is the best bang for buck with this size tank. However, if I ever see a used Deltec MC500 from one of my friends, I probably will upgrade that. But even the Coralife is working fine for my SPS.

1. Do both, if you can. Harvesting macroalgae in the fuge should help in conjunction with your skimmer.
2. Get a refractometer to measure salinity.
3. That sounds fine. I drip kalk using Kent's Aquadose, which is pretty much the same thing.

i mean... it depends how many corals you have and what you wish to keep...for a few zoos and frogspawn...your weekly water changes might handel their needs...

if you want to add alot of corals...dose whatever you need.

I curently dose kent liquid reactor, iodine, and strontium.
but i only dose them when my levels are low. :)

Just play around with it....zoos are very hardy ... so play around with them and see what works best :)

thats the best advice i can give :)

Thanks for the reply. i will hopefully be putting the order out for my CSS 65 tonight.

Ok, thanks. I already have a refractometer, but I dont think I will get a fuge. I will see how it goes with the skimmer only.

Alien
Ok, cool. I will dose for them. I will also upgrade my salt from IO to Reef-Crystals.

good luck on the tank, i noticed you decided against a fuge i think that a fuge would almost do more good or as much as a skimmer for you i have two skimmers on my 50 gall and a aquaclear 70 mod fuge with some LR rubble and stuffed with cheato on my 20 gallon and its awsome the tank has zero nuscance algae my lil fish like the constant supply of pods and the water is very clear i have just started with this fuge its my first. Even if you dont do one now a fuge will make a great upgrade later on down the line any new pics or is the tank the same? get any corals yet

Yea, I was debating between the two, but I just ordered the CSS 65, and from what I hear, I think I will be more than happy with it. Also, later on down the line, I do think that a fuge would be a good addition. I'm still kinda thinking about trying to design a small in-tank fuge. I still have the acrylic laying around. I dunno, just kinda brainstorming at this point. Also, my tank is the same. Nothing really all that new. Diatoms are almost gone and some green algae is moving in...? I kinda think that it is GHA, but I dont want to be pessimistic. Here is a picture of what I believe is GHA:

Yes, I know, terrible picture. But what do you expect from a terrible camera. I think we will be getting a new one for christmas. Anyways, you can see the green spot at the top of the picture.

Heres an FTS:
