My 30 Rimless Frogfish Sanctuary

How long would it take juvenile to outgrow a 15g cube? Contemplating getting one and setting my cube up just for him as I build a larger shallow reef.

Here's a shot of my scolly and cynaria munching down on some piscine mysis shrimp. This was a past picture so the scolly is much smaller in it. I do this feeding for all my lps once or twice a week.

Thanks,
-Tim

I can't say I'm an expert on this subject but I would assume you could have him in there for at least a year. Ive had mine about 6 months now and I feel he is still small enough to fit in a 15 gallon cube.

Here are some progression shots of the tank. Even though mine is still real young its cool to see how much it has changed over 9 months.

This about a month to month and a half after i got it running. The tank was running mid to late January so I would say this is late February of this year. I was very patient with it in the beginning.

This about a few weeks to a month after the first picture. The nepthea was originally large, Ive had that coral since an inch big, its been with me for years its one of my "baby's" in the tank. lol

Then more shots as it progresses:

As you can see in the last photo I got my new phone at that point. lol

Thanks,
Tim

sweet progression pics. they look great. look how reefs come to life after a year and how they grow from lil frags to colonies. looks great

Question: in pics #4-7 you have in the front low center of the tank a long-tentacled something that looks like it split?? Then I see it on the sandbed in the following pictures and then in the final progression picture there are none. I believe this is the same thing that had been growing from my zoas. My mystery plate coral as I call it. Where did yours come from & what happened to them? You can see it up in the middle right of the rockwork off the green zoas in the FTS.

That is a great looking tank.
If you don't mind I am looking at getting that Eshopps 75h you have and would like to hear your thoughts about it. Also how much distance is needed from the back of the tank to the back of the skimmer?

Thanks for any help.
Ed

Your acrylic looks very nice and clean, especially in the corners! I am working on a seaclear acrylic 29G, and would appreciate some advice/equipment you use to clean the rounded corners and the rest of the tank.

Been A While

Been A While

Well unfortunately Bubba is no longer with us, about 3 months ago he passed, not sure why he passed but no obvious marks on the body and he had just ate a damsel a few days before. My only idea is that somehow that damsel went down wrong or it gave him a parasite causing him to pass.

The tank though is still doing great and progressing nicely. Here are some photos:

Nice to have some movement in there again besides those damn damsels, and to all you tang police out there you can keep your comments to yourself I don't wanna hear it. Saved the little buy from an lfs when he was as thin as paper and the size of a dime. If anything that fish was 99% guaranteed to die so I saved it and It has been removed recently for a bigger tank. Otherwise here is the fish stock list.

2 Helfriche Gobies
2 Flaming Prawn Gobies and Candy Pistol
1 Yellow Coris Wrasse
2 Black Ice Clowns
1 African Blue pipe still kicking
1 Ruby Red Scooter Blenny

Thinking of snagging a little dime sized garibaldi damsel in the next week or two!

Thanks for all of your kind comments on the tank I'm glad you all wanted an update, enjoy!

-Tim

Well I didn't get another one because even though he was really cool and neat the tank was sorta boring. I don't consider damsels fish Im not a fan of them so it was just him and the pipe. I decided after to add more life like cool shrimps and fish. Makes the tank more interesting for me, I like change. haha

Thanks,
-Tim
