Another pic of the neck the line next to it is the water for the wet neck. The water flows down the neck. Its supposed to help keep it cleaner. We shall see about that.
this is where the water falls from the wet neck.I don't know if you can see the ring around the top of the skimmer cup.Water comes in from there and fall over into the skimmer neck where the bubbles are.I have my finger on the inside of the neck. You can see that there is water falling onto my finger.
Thanks Jonathon.I spoke with shaun from Orca.It seems that there isn't supposed to be a dry area in the bottom of the skimmer but we discussed it and it seems that the bubbles are forcing air out and up into the body.It doesn't affect the skimmer performance. He had a similar issue with another customer(smaller skimmer)The skimmer works well.I don't have enough of a bio load to really test this skimmer out.I also spoke to him about getting me some legs for the lights. They have a set.It raises the lights about 5" to 6" off the top of the tank. This will be nice.I will probably get those instead of trying to make a set.
bulbs.Since my bulbs are cheap(quality) what bulbs would you guys recommend.I was thinking 14 k for the MH but I am not sure about witch brand and maybe 10 k and blue plus for the T5 again not sure witch brand and what spectrum make a nice light effect.
So far I am very happy with it.I think this skimmer is going to kick butt.I think it should skim my system no problem. Its still new once its broken in I am sure it will work even better.I am getting some light greenish skim mate.I don't have much of a bio load for know. The bubbles are pretty nice. They range from small to medium. So far the skimmer has been pretty easy to set.I will probably remove my filter sock just to get more dirty water in my sump.I wanted to mention that my trigger fish is fine.If you guys remember he had the problem with his skin.I ordered some medication and it just came in.I don't need to use it since the fish is OK.I hope I past this hump in the road.I do have some cyano in my tank.I do think I need a bit more flow specially since some of that flow is going to the skimmer.I plan to get some vortech pumps when I have the funds.I have power heads(a good 10 of them) but I don't like the looks of them in the tank.I could somehow drill the corner of the tank to pass the wires and place the pumps but I don't want to do that.I looked at the tunze but those pumps are to big.
