I have one Mag and my experience with it was similar in that it did look deflated when I first got it.
Over the course of a few days it started to look better and I moved it higher in the rock work.
It began to open up slowly and made it's way up my overflow.
Now it's been sitting proudly at the very top and has not moved in about a year.
I hope yours will recover. I learned that it likes both light and flow but it seems to prefer light over flow if given a choice. In the last picture you can see that I have a powerhead aimed underneath it but not directly at it. It's tentacles like to sway in the flow. The powerheads on the other side of the tank are aimed at it but they are further away and don't seem to bother it. Good luck.
