I LIKE TURTLES!
After thinking about it for a while, I finally placed an order for this 5 gallon rimless pico kit. I'm excited to be active in the hobby again, and stocking my tank. Anyway, Im starting this tread to document the tank's progress.
Shipping was quick, and without incident:
Decided to paint the back of it black. I used some cheapo black glossy enamel, and it worked fine after 3 rounds of painting. You can see some spots didnt cover too well on the first round..
Put in an inch of some large grain sand I had from a previous tank, and stacked the base rock in a the best natural looking arrangement I could.
Filled up!
Right now the tank is running on the stock equipment (6 white LEDs and 3 blue) and their small pump/filter. The kit doesnt come with a heater, so for the time being Im using a 150w Hydor Proaquatics submersible heater, but I plan to replace it with a Hydor 50w Theo, to be able to hide it better behind the rocks. I also plan on adding 2 additional LED strips in all actinic so I can run them independently of the other LEDs.
This is the second day of the cycle. Ive seeded the sand with a cup full of LS from a FOWLR tank I have. Staring at an empty tank is the hardest part of this hobby lol.
Thanks for looking!
