My 500 + gallon system. Last 13 years to now. Build, Aquascaping & more. Lots of pics

Wait.. a better question.

Are you really standing on the hand rail of that ladder?

I know...really ;)

I only jest but it was also the first thing I noticed...but then again I work in the safety office (ground and explosive) has a traditional guardsman. Nice eel though. Always wanted something a bit more managable in a soft reef tank I am setting up that wouldn't eat the cleanup crew. Was thinking of a few garden eels though...

You should get back into it Scott. I know you want a tiger.

Dude are you wearing zubas? Those pants were awesome back in the day lol

LOL.. They probably were. I don't remember but they were a fad at the time.

Would you believe I still have that same step stool and still stand on it the same way to this date every day when feeding. Never once fallen either.. Damn, I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Garden eels would be cool. My favorite eel is the Hawaiian Dragon Eel. I had one of those many years back and they are just amazing eels. Absolutely beautiful. As much as I like eels, I'm not a fan of them in a reef. If they are not extremely well fed, fish will disappear. Heck, fish may still disappear despite an extremely fat and happy eel. It's a shame too because they are pretty neat creatures. The other downside is all the waste generated as a result of eels and their feeding needs. Not very good for a reef.

Seems I recall a pic of you drunk swimming with that eel?

Any luck getting more info on the eel?

Northing more since talking to the guy who had him after me. I may send a follow up text to him tomorrow to see keep it fresh in his mind in hopes that he remembers the guys name who he gave him to.

Good luck bro.

Thanks! It would be great if he remembered the persons name but I don't expect much as it's been many years since the guy sold the shop and gave the eel away. One can only hope. That said, I am sure Gorby has long since passed away but it would be good to know what happened to him regardless.

There is no more coraline on my viewing panes. My friend Cande who polished my tank out about 12 years ago came by tonight with his scraper tools and knocked it all out. It took nearly 5 hours of scraping using a metal bladed scraper meant for glass on my acrylic. He did it without scratching too. It came out great! I will post before and after pictures tomorrow.

Yesterday I made up a bunch of sanding pads for my magnet scrubber to eliminate old scratches from when I had sand. I've got every grade of micro mesh sand paper from 1200 grit to 12000 grit siliconed to scrub pads for my Mighty Magnets. I will start working on some of those in the next few days although those really are only noticeable to me unless you scrutinize the bottom edges.

Removing the coraline from the viewing panes really makes the tank look bigger. I'm really stocked to have that done!

I won't say its about time since you played a itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka dot bikini roll in my reefing adventure.

It was long over due..

This is a picture from December 15th.. I had been working on it almost daily since then so it wasn't as bad as it was in this photo but there was still a couple inches of coraline along the bottom edge and about an inch along the top..

This was taken last night after we finished. No more coraline on any the viewing panes. I'm looking forward to seeing it later today when I get home from work. Everything should be back to normal although I can see from my web cam that as of now, my big RBTA is hanging out on the other side of the peninsula. Not a big thing as he just extends over to that side. He's done it before and always goes back to his normal side. He got bumped last night during the cleaning so I was kind of expecting him to be on the other side.
