My 500G Osama Reef-2

Does your installer have any pumps you can use? Or maybe someone local to you. I use a reefflo and while test it's a little bigger it is a workhorse of a pump. And by dialing it back it helps save on electricity

Adam: I have a waveline 10000 will the power supply work on the DC10500?/ if that is tehe problem.
ca1ore: garlic no garlic : view differ and we listen and decide for ourselves. I appreciate the reference as I need to read more on the subject... after I fix my pump situation and thanks to all..

It should work. Is the pump working just a bad power supply?

check the power supply specs and connectors. If unsure post a pic of both power supply labels and connectors here for confirmation.

My setup will run OK on the second Main Tank Pump. No issue there as long as the seconfd MT pump does not fail soon. I will check first as suggested by using the power supply say from the skimmer pump ( a diablo 10500 also), that will tell me if it is only a power supply issue. If it is then I will check the specs on the waveline and see if the specs on the Diablo are available on line or if I can read them of the power supply itself. will do that in the am. Tomorrow Chicago weather high is 16 below and wind chill twenty some below.. As a retired person I will have plenty to tinker with till we solve this one... and many thanks to all for your ideas.. I will need you please tomorrow...

Doesn't the power supply light up? Or the controller light up? When mine died everything looked fine on that end and the pump was totally dead.

I had no light on the power supply unit even after unplugging it off APEX and plugging it directly into an extension chord... NOTHING!!

DC 10500 Second Life, is working

DC 10500 Second Life, is working

Thank You ALL for your support/responses last night about the DC 10500 pump.
This morning I plugged the pump back on and everything is working fine. Unplugged it and plugged it to APEX and while on APEX turned if off then back on few times and everything worked. Can anyone advise of what possibly went wrong and how likely is it to occur again.

i've had issues with one of my dc10500s that i mentioned to you earlier on about having back ups for them or replacing with the dc12000 gen 2 from waveline. the most common failure is the heater circuit issue. if you are not seeing power at the power supply that is unique from the majority of the issues i've read with these. is it connected to an EB8 that possibly was not initiated or delivering power at that time? kind of odd for a power supply to go bad. did you plug directly into a working wall outlet to confirm? thanks for posting and working through your dilemmas with us and following up as it helps others get a real grasp and conclusion on their own similar problems that they may be facing and it's good information on another potential issue with this specific pump.

Thanks monkiboy.. I am a bit flustered here.. Pump is working fine this am but my MP60s are not, they are working off the backup batteries. I am wondering if it is the APEX acting up or an overload on the APEX. I did add an 800 w heater and maybe that is causing issues with APEX and electrical. I am no good when it comes to electricity.. I will be trying to get hold of APEX. Thanks.. and I do enjoy very much sharing on RC as I learn a lot from RC, although the past few days have been taxing my emotional personality, from fish death, ich then now pump issues APEX issues etc..

Thanks to ALL for the info & support between Ich, fish crashing and the pump not working had a tough few days. About the pump: The culprit is the power supply/transformer. My supplier confirmed that the pump is under warranty and he will get it replaced meanwhile I should get a replacement pump to have as spare. I will ask him to use the brand new waveline 10000 as a backup since I have it on hand and paid for. I like the quietness and six power level controls and I hope they have fixed whatever issues they got . Otherwise future brdwns will be replaced is another brand. FYI power supply on waveline was same power in/out as for DC10500. That was fortunate since I had one on hand

That is good that you caught that. Sorry about your fish loss. I can feel your pain as you already know I just went through the same bout. Keep your head up.

Thanks Wayne.. It just is tough when it comes to losses of corals or fish.... Pumps brkdwn OK you buy a new one. But a bit of guilt when it comes to fish & corals. My mistake NO DOUBT. I & Marion are moving on looking to enjoy our great hobby, and learn to be patient as we go. A new habit for me to develop at age 70!!! Thanks Wayne I Enjoy your thread

Urchin's waiste

Urchin's waiste

My wife noticed our Tuxedo Urchin Polluting massively.. Have you seen this in your tanks. first time for us. On the left you see a small stone stuck to the Urchin , to the right from that spot he was discharging a lot of waste. I do have quite a bit of bubble in my tank that Matt is tackling for us.. So far still have bubbles. Focus on the trail straight down

I have a short video.. Anyone advise how to copy it off my PC

Yes Dave I was just amazed as to how much that Urchin kept discharging. The video will show a bit more of the waste..

The only way I've found to post a video here is to upload to youtube then post the link here. Im sure there's a better way.

No, that is exactly the correct way to post a video to RC. However, due to the terrible response times from YouTube you might want to consider posting to Vimeo instead.
