I am glad you did not say and enjoy the "smell" instead of the "skim"..
I am letting it skim it's heart out.
This evening I almost turned it down further as it looked like it wanted to start spewing water but I resisted and will see how it is in the am...

Tasso Tank is doing fine thanks. Skimmer function as noted above is improving and I am left mainly with the issue of bubbles that is not going away. Matt will be coming to see what he can do hopefully soon... I am not likely to ever want to sell the Sohol or any of my fish BUT in any case catching any fish is an impossibility.. Thanks again .. NEED TO SOMEHOW get rid of blue star polyps any ideas are welcome

I dont remember where those were, can you post a pic of them again? Are they on a single rock? If so, that would be easy...remove the rock.

What type of food are you feeding is it possible that this isn't shutting down skimmer /does this happen after feeding / or something you have or haven't done
When does it shut down
Any Lysol or anything in the air by the air pump
Please post pictures of good skimming and no skimming
Something other than the skimmer might be the issue
We will get to the bottom of this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skimmer Update
Rattling has stopped I assume what was loose in there is still in there lodged and not moving for the time being Unusaul
I feed nori sheets that I add selcon and garlic to
I work on my corals with epoxy in hand sometime
When I feed and work in tank Skimmer stops skimming as expected for about two hours. No issue there.
Here is a picture of it not skimming
Here it is doing a good job
Skimmer looking better without that thing rattling inside it... Maybe just needs cleaning of upper neck is quite dirty. I just would like to see it skim for a week without adjustments

I would like to see it skim for a week ( OK ) Here goes
Remember it all starts with you for one week
no hands in tank
no selcon it contains fatty acids / fish food only / what do you feed ?
no gluing corals or playing in the tank / get elbow high gloves if you need to go into tank
find and fix rattling in the skimmer /there are needle wheels on the pump that can brake off and affect performance of skimmer
check and report on nitrate and phosphate levels
Remember less time in the tank the better
Set skimmer after leaving the tank alone for a week
then one by one see if it's the selcon /or the epoxy
skimmer doesn't need cleaning daily when it's black as a chalk board then clean
also how much waste are you getting a day or in a week ???

Thanks Greg . I was afraid of that they can ruin something!! I am asking Matt to get it out as I could not see it. He had said he dropped the missing wing nut in there a while back. I have not heard it for a few days now it must have lodged somewhere but will come loose somehow upon cleaning or draining the skimmer or whatever......I could not see it or get it out. I am asking Matt to get it out ASAP. Hate to have it ruin anything in there.. Thanks
Where are the chopping needles located in relation to the cylinder and the pump located on the side land on the bottom of the skimmer?? Thanks again
