My 500G Osama Reef-2

Hi Steve: My DT is 500g plus three by 60 g tanks. I have about 1500 lbs of rock So I would say I am within less than 600g of total water in my system.Maybe closer to 500g
Flow is 2/3 (10500 lph of DC pump) =7000 lph or about 1800gph ( can easily increase flow or decrease No worry for now about skimmer as unfortunately I am still playing with it )
I am not sure but I do not see anything that implies it has a sleeve wiper that I can pull and clean it.

I have a 300 gallon true water system really 400 gallon no rock I have a 80 watt aqua at 600 gallons per hour.. On the aqua unit where the bulb goes in remove bulb unscrew that fitting that is blueish and that is the quartz sleeve be careful sliding it out clean gently with water and a cloth and reinstall and you are good to go if it is discolored too much you might have to replace it.Flow rate is crucial if you want to kill ich that passes through it.. Public aquariums and wholesalers still use them for a reason

Thanks ihm Appreciate the info. Need to take the unit and clean it and make a decision. May try it for a month or two and see if I notice any difference. my fish are doing fine No ich for 6 plus months. Introduced new fish 2-3 month ago that were in observation tank for 2 weeks.

Doser Pump Bubble Magus

Doser Pump Bubble Magus

My doser pump is a three part dosing pump from Bubble Magus... the center pump is pumping continuously and I could not reset it. So now I have the pump unplugged. Any suggestions on how I can stop it from continuously pumping. I rechecked the setting and it seems good. Appreciate any and all suggestions and Thanks

Received advice to unplug for twenty four hours for a "hard reset". Hard to believe unit does not have a reset button!!

bubbles

OSAMA, long time... Ive been busy with boating season, and with the cold weather brings me back to reefing...

I need to update my build thread but wanted to suggest reviewing a bean animal overflow. not sure you're able to do this with your build/canopy setup but besides being quiet, it also eliminates bubbles in the sump as it utilizes full a siphon.. Im using it with 2" piping (overkill) 1.5" more than enough. Piping is about a 4' drop into a 75g sump.. works great..

If I was to do it again or change anything, Id opt for a needle valve on the full siphon pipe, go with 1.5" piping. As I use my return pump to also supply a manifold, Id also add a ball valve after the manifold supply (it'd be nice to push up flow to manifold without increasing flow to tank returns).

Yes Greg Filter socks do reduce the bubbles and I use them when it gets annoying watching bubbles. I am not a fan of socks and never used them before in my 20 yrs reefing and several successful tanks. Prefer the system to balance itself without socks. Design should be such than return slows down over several baffles to eliminate bubbles. Matt J has some ideas he will try to fix but he is so busy.. We have been at this built for over a year when it was supposed to be three four months... I love the end result few serious hick-ups to overcome and hoping Matt will resolve shortly... Meanwhile I make do

Thanks smb .. sorry about the cold and snow in Nov... Hoping Matt will come as promised. Still a no show. Maybe he was out boating and having fun.... Will see after he is done what the end result will be before I start trying anything else. I will look into "bean animal overflow" I had read about it but do not remember much ..

My APEX not working

My APEX not working

I had power off Upon restart one of my three EB units would not send power out. It has a green light on. I disconnected and reconnected 2 USB connected to that bar but no success PLS help URGENT and thanks

Hi Osama,
Can you get a temporary power strip to power your equipment until you can contact Neptune for support?

OBAMA, can you use the LCD to turn power on?

To reboot APEX you need to unplug the 12v adaptor(if you use it) and the 120v power cord.

smb & Tasso sorry been out of touch here... Neptune support was wonderful and everything has been OK for a while.. I thought I replied earlier... I must have been under the weather. Actually it worked by itself when I blew a fuse and reset it... Then Neptune checked and said equipment is OK...
Meanwhile I hooked up the equipment to another outlet with extension chords etc...

Planning on fragging the tricolor SPS FS as it is shading the coral below it OR I may just move it to a lower section of the tank... SO I took few pictures of some of my corals on top of DT Hope U like them

Merry Christmas to ALL
I like the setup and the piping layout and the return hdrs in front and back of the tank
DC pump failure is NOT acceptable .. Second failure in less than a year
Bubbles from an under-designed sump still to be fixed waiting for a fix for a long while.
Sump under-design will and does cause flooding on power failure. Need to increase size of emergency overflow pipe
Tank carpentry is beautiful but system is not best it could have been
Growth is great also in this tank
Right now I am flustered as I have a pump not working and am just glad I have a second pump on line for my main DT...
Humbagghhh I am enjoying our family Christmas day and will look into the pump maniana
