Which top off
Water change system?
What parts of the Apex did you get? WXM? Salinity? Break out box? etc

I have been getting my setup ready through Dave and doing a lot of research like you. I'm not going as big but, the way I'm planning it could totally be used in your setup. I just wish I could afford to do it all at once! lol

I currently have the APEX, WXM, mp40's running on my 55 and the apex is awesome. I got some more goodies at the moment but, they aren't installed because they are for the big tank. Once I have that one cycling I will take everything from the 55 and put it back to the old days with timers and stuff.
 
Hi Midnight..Not sure what you are talking about when U say fusion release. I am having someone install my system. I was familiar with Neptune and now looking to Apex that will be running everything that can run on Apex. More to come after it is installed. I will have a top off line from the basement to the tank on the first level with a sensor that will shut off the water flow . I will have two storage tanks in the basement one for RO and second for salt water. My installer did not want to use a continuous water change system and recommended that I decide on amount of water change I want to do and he will set it up so I put the system on whenever I decide on a water change and the system will discahrge that quantity of water and replace it with an equivalent saltwater .. I can have better answers as the work progresses. Thursday's focus of installer is on getting dedicated circuits (preferably 2) to the tank/equipment
Where are u in IL. Like to know hobbyist that are close I am in Palatine
 
IMO those supply lines can handle that much flow easy. Meaning two systems into the one aren't going to max what that line can flow....Especially since the end of it is open.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I keep reading and finding out more information.
 
Thanks Midnight Also My LFS said the same thing. I am known to listen sometime!! but for my piece of mind I separated the flows(had two lines coming from basement to tank anyway) and I feel I got better flow into the tank. I did it but sort of agree with you and my LFS that the line should handle both flows.. I said I listen SOMETIME.. Thanks

Here is the latest: Started to put salt into the tank with it full to 300g only. looking good. lost 3 feet of space in my private room and 65 gallon tank was moved to the side and we built a closet as an extension to the tank stand, where equipment will be housed: Skimmer, KalK & calc reactors GFOs etc.

Hi Ojos: I will take some picture of the other side later on. Nothing to show on that side only the big tank shows on that side which is the new Family Room.
 
to ALL: yesterday was a bit of a downer since Installer could not find the right electrical box to connect to... He has multiple junction boxes but over the years we had few/multiple projects and each contractor did his thing with the electrical. We had looked at the wiring in the ceiling above the tank before the tank was moved into place and he thought we had plenty available conduits for him to do his thing!! Not the case yesterday. Today he is contemplating running new conduits from where few years back a bathroom contractor put in for my older tank plumbing/pipes into the same area from the basement. Hoping this will be the answer as I am not a very patient man and this delay is UNWELCOME NEWS.. need to be able to post new pictures of real progress soon.. Next progress from him will not be till Tuesday meanwhile I am busy with the RO water & salt for now...
 
Man that's sad to hear. I am having my electrical ran soon so I hope the same doesn't happen to me as I also have an old house. Good thing is your tank is wet. Wishing you the best and congrats.
 
Thanks it was a downer. We'll find a way. I have plenty of power in my house that needs to be moved from basement to first floor. Power was in basement powering my old setup of 180+320+2X90 and a sump. We just have to get someone who knows how to trace the lines and move them. LFS could not do it although he thought it would be a piece of cake. He did the old setups!!in the basement

Just my opinion but I think less is more when it comes to live rock. I like the centre structure but maybe contemplate doing a little more of a stacked rock island look on the side closest to the camera in the last picture you posted. That will leave a little floor space for corals etc.

Thinks Skythanith I do have a lot of rock and I welcome all ideas. I am OK for now with too much rock to start with and reducing it as the tank fills up with corals over a two year period for this size tank... I have been showing the back of the tank (looking at it from office room side). Next post will have both sides as of last night. I like your idea of an Island structure possibly at both ends I have to be careful a bit as I will have four one in each corner MP 60 Vortech pumps that may blow away smaller loose rocks.. Maybe not .. I will check them out before I place any significant structure in their area. Please let me know what U think of the next set of pictures and thanks.. Also considering stacking rock on the overflow and sloping it down to the middle area without obstructing the pumps
