Socks are collecting minor nothing just get discolored from filtering the water. I do use the socks when bubbles aggravate me.... AND they seem to be OK the way I use them and clean them (I am totally not in favor of socks otherwise)... So and until the bubbles issue is solved I need to do something or go insane not enjoying the tank at it's best.... Tank growth has been exceptionally good so far and I am keeping my fingers crossed THANKS Dave
I like to grow Xenias as I enjoy seeing them pulsating. I try to control the areas they are growing onto and I "cultivate" them off rocks where I do not want them to grow. Requires work. Yesterday I had a guest over with his young son who LOVED watching the xenias pulsating. Posting few pictures of where I had Xenias grow. I like to see them on the returns. Since the growth of the SPS took off I trimmed a lot off the DT and moved some to the frag tank that has become a Xenia tank .. Let me know please if U favor Xenias or not and why THANKS

One of my favorite corals " I think A Loripes ". A very slow grower. Located on the top deck which in my tank is the center top platform above the center cave/opening. Hope U give it a thumbs up IF U like it .. THANKS .. PS ALL my corals are my favorites... Go Figure!!!
Granulos OR Loripes. Your input is Important to me
Granulos OR Loripes. Your input is Important to me
I am told this is a Granulosa not a Loripes. Here is a picture off the internet of a Granulosa that looks like the one in my video... Anyone who knows what it should be named pls chime in
A recent Photo of the center section of my 500g Reef Display Tank that is almost eleven feet long. My SPS are concentrated on that mid section on the top level that I designate as the top deck. Variety of Plate corals are on the bottom... Thumbs up if U like it. This tank has been running for only 14 months.
Past couple of days my Neptune system is sending me an email alarm. Anyone knows where I can look to determine what is causing this alarm... Everything seems to be functioning normally but yesterday and again just now I got the following alarm... How do I check cause and adjust .. Thanks for any input
Date: 2015-04-20 18:11:42 (2015-04-20 23:11:42 UTC)
Status: OFF
Statement: Set
OFF
I did a quick search at the Neptune Fusion forum and found one thread that indicated Fusion sends an email like that when the alarm condition is OVER. If you didn't get another email indicating the actual issue, perhaps it wasn't ON long enough to send that mail. I'm just guessing here since I don't use Fusion.
The thing I'd look at first is the Swx statement. Perhaps that switch is just bouncing on/off for a brief time on an irregular basis. If that's it a 'DEFER' statement would even it out.
Good luck with this. Intermittent issues are the hardest to solve!
thanks wood.. I have moved the sensor to what I hope is a better (less turbulent) area to see what happens the next 24hrs... YES intermittent issues and those that stay on so briefly are tough to diagnose ... Thanks for the help
Been away for few months and busy upon my return battling with my DT to overcome (so far unsuccessfully) red hair algae or red slime... Mostly on the bottom sand. Been doing a lot of cleaning like, removing dead corals and dead frags etc, I do have a huge skimmer and am wondering if I should get a decent cleaner crew. Any-who I took a video of my 500G Dt this morning and it is so full even with the die-outs and the moving of a couple of large corals. Hope you enjoy the video.
I'll bet you have a lot of detritus build-up under all those rocks and corals on the bottom. It might help to get a small pump and go in from the top of the tank to blow out all those areas on the bottom that don't get much water circulation. I suspect that might help with your red algae problems.
Good Morning .. Lights just went on at 7 am ..
Early morning shots of few corals as they were still opening for the day including a snail that is doing it in front of my eyes. No Shame!!!
