My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

I dont really have a plumbing diagram. I will try my best to explain. The overflow from the tank will go into the skimmer body and then dump into the sump. I will have 1 return pump that "T's" off to go to display tank, the frag tank and the refugium. They will all be on seperate lines with shut off valves so I can cut water supply to anything I want. The frag tank and the refugium sit on top of the sump as you can see above and they will each have an overflow back into the sump. Hope that helps. I will take pictures for you when I get there. Thanks!, I'm amazed wow well the shed keeps a reasonable temp. If I leave the door open at night then close it in the early morning it is filled with cool air (90degrees is cool here at night :( ) Come 5pm its 110 outside but it only feels about 90-95 inside still. I'm hoping this will help with my electrical useage.
 
Have you considered putting a small in wall A/C unit? Should keep the cold air inside with all the insulation. Thats the only thing I was wondering. Wouldn't it keep all the heat generated from the halides(frag tank) inside the shed as well?

There will be 2 portable AC units inside the shed. One main one and one back up.
 
Nothing too exciting to report. Got the stand for the QT tanks built and painted (left side of pictures). The top tank will be the coral QT (20G) and the middle tank will be the fish QT (80G). The bottom 2 tanks are the sumps for each (29G). I also picked up a used 1HP chiller. I dont plan on running it but it will be plumbed into the system for back up just in case of an AC failure or power loss.

What brand is that chiller? Looks sweet!

Just wondering... Why do you feel the chiller most likely will not be needed? (only for backup needs)

It a "current" chiller. Well I hope it wont be needed. With the tank being in the house with AC and all the sump tanks in the shed with AC and no real lights to add heat I hope that the chiller will not need to run. It will be chaper to crank the AC in the shed down than to run the chiller. Time will tell.

Just finished going through the whole thread. GREAT PROGRESS!!! I was thinking for me half a year would be a long time before "the real water" and livestock hit the tank. I think you should teach a class to all reefers about patience. I cant complain after seeing this thread. Good way to please the misses (with the garden.). Cant wait to see the finished project. I will be tagging along. And, thanks for sharing your journey.:bounce1:

I hope you don't need it either. I don't have one for mine and with a fan it never goes over 82.

Wow! It's been awhile since I've looked at this. Ahhh... how it gets the saltwater flame going again. Really, great work! BTW, you have such a wonderful wife. Hug her tight. :)
