So I've been running carbon for the last week to get rid of the copper. Hopefully continuing to run carbon and a major water change I'm planning for the weekend will bring the levels down.
My ammonia levels peaked over the weekend so I decided to throw in some more table shrimp. I had two in one of the sumps, which I added after the damsel died. I don't know if I posted that update anywhere, but the damsel never came out to eat and I found him floating 3 days later. Could have been a result of the high copper levels as well. Anyway, the two shrimp I had were pretty much disintegrated so I put in 6 today. The bacteria culture has already started to grow, so I'm hoping to have one more ammonia spike in a week or two and then be adding the first fish a few weeks after that.
I've been working on the stand lately and hope to have it done, except for the tile, tonight. I'll post some pictures either way. We ended up painting the sheathing a light blue color that matches the tiles; it looks kind of gray with the lights on. Trim is an off white.
