Hey Troub, sand will be going back in once i'm happy with the corals health and the water is stable in relation to nutrient levels.
I know nothing about acans mate, i know they're easy to keep as even i don't kill them....... i may or may not have just bought a second acan btw........ :smokin:

And that's interesting to hear on the LEDs.... We're winning him over Bello!!! :dance: Biggles you're going to bust out your Xmas tree again and get some Xmas lights up over your system soon. . . I predict it happens the next time Aussie Customs tries to arrest you for sneaking in radioactive isotopes hidden inside your reef tank lights :facepalm: I bet they don't even blink twice when the LEDs boxes pass across their desk :blown: Just tell Kevin not to stare at the diodes :uhoh3: :lol:

I did lots of :reading: when planning my LED set up. As you're probably aware since you all watched me hack the build together. But I based my color / wave length distribution choices off of the Razor and a couple other similar units. I studied them more for their color and layout then anything. But it seems to have paid off because for the most part, my pieces seem quite happy with it. I just need to rent a par meter now and really dial in the dimming percentages.

And you just had to go out and buy an awesome, big, colorful piece again. Show-off!!! :strooper:

Thanks Fishy, i was too lazy to bother taking the shroom rock back so it's in the sump lol - i did however visit Reeflections aquarium - a LFS with coral tanks that would turn Sahin and Bello into gibbering idiots.

Hahahaha I wish I had a awesome lfs in town but there is only a small one with some corals, I suppose it's better than one with no corals at all. But I'm hoping the new one opening up will be great and by the sound of it....it will have lots of imported corals, nice fish and be a largely marine store:dance:

Hey buddy, yep i'm conducting multiple covert operations within the tank - lots of troops have been relocated to better positions and the odd new coral or two have found their way into my care. I cut the echi in half and stuck it in two spots but both bits are paling a bit too much and fast for my liking since i got it. You can see a bit top right in the flubber pic below and it really does look like in the pic lol - i'm a tad stressed about the echi tbh but i see minimal PE at night so i'm not moving either bit. I couldn't believe my luck finding the echi so soon, i still have a small stump of the first piece alive but i'm fairly certain both pieces originated from the same 'stand' of echi collected by the same coral collector.
I didn't say i liked the bloody LED light i just wasn't as unimpressed as usual with the results i saw. This red/pink milli was under the store LED's for two weeks and the broken branch ends had encrusted over almost entirely in that time. I'm hoping that it's the same as the shimmering pink one i had and killed recently, similar to Sahin's beautiful piece. Already chopped it up and stuck three bits here and there, one is in the bottom pic down very low.

Took a pic of the new flubber layout just for you Troub, don't ask me what the spotty thing is because i can't remember. I'm still scaping the right side so you only get a peek lol. Due to the reflection off the stupid bare bottom i had to dim the brightness right down but you get the idea.

Reeflections in Melbourne is about as awesome as it gets for SPS keepers, i won't even mention the ridiculous space wasted on flubbery stuff all the colors of the rainbow. Next visit i'll take lots of pics so you can see inside the reefing treasure cave

While i'm on the subject of where i go to get the good stuff i want to get something off my chest. Look at the picture i may or may not have pinched off their website..... what the hell are the goldfish doing on the front of the shop ? Goldfish are the most useless and pointless creatures on this planet and i'm fairly certain they came in on an asteroid or something thousands of years ago. No way evolution had a hand in making a fish as lame as a goldfish. We need to gather up every goldfish into an ark and shoot them back into space where they bloody belong !
The store has a token few freshwater tanks filled with lamo freshwater fish but that doesn't excuse putting that filth on the store front imo........

That green acro in the pic is deep emerald green and the blue acro beside it has neon green polyps so as usual the colors are off lol. The 'blue' one is crap looking SSC which is deep purple where it looks blue - yuck. Overall i'm happy with the positive direction the acros are now heading. The colors are beginning to 'pop' again slowly but surely
The flubber will be monitored closely for any anti social behavior towards the 'Chosen Ones' - acros. Punishment will be swift and devastating to any flubber that tries to punch above its weight class......... :hammer:
I've been feeding the fish mini pellets and nori every day and a pinch of cyclop-eeze and roids every night for a couple of weeks, had a GHA bloom in the sump rather than that weird slimy green algae or cyano that was growing before. The GHA is a good sign that the right filth is in the water lol. I did a 20% water change yesterday and used the opportunity to remove 90% of the GHA covering the sump walls.
I'm worried Sahin is unwell, fingers crossed he's ok - a lot of people here think very highly of Sahin, he's always helping fellow reefers and i don't think i've ever seen him be rude and nasty like you frequently are Bello........ the last time you went on holidays Fishy had a thread ' How good is it without Bello' that went nuts....... the mods removed it before you came back.

I pinched a recent FB pic from Reeflections FB page and cleaned the blue phone pic colors up so you can see just the SPS sale tank. There are four of these huge tanks just for corals in the middle of the shop and the fish tanks surround the walls. The other three tanks contain heaps of very cool stuff if you're into flubber and/or jello tanks. A 18" potato cod guards one flubber tank and a 12" coral trout or something beautiful and nasty that looks like that is now guarding another tank. They've changed the whole store around since i posted those pics many months ago and allocated much more space to the SPS

Thanks Mike, on the road to recovery mate and finished the new scape. Still have a few choice spots open for new acros yet to be aquired.
Once i get everything humming properly i'm going to throw the cleaned white sand back in which should ramp up the color contrast to where we want it - ridiculous lol.
The water is a bit too rich atm from the overfeeding but i wanted the acros to have max nutrition available while recovering and GHA is easy to manage when you have a sump. Those hairy green stag pieces really are that crazy green color, even i like that stuff.

Wow biggles, you're so freakin' lucky!!! I can't even think of enough expletives right now, that you so rightly deserve :furious:. That's just a dream store :frog:. More pics of the store please, when you get the time :thumbsup:..and yea, the tanks are definitely lit with MaxSpect Razors.

Recovery looks good biggles, and I'm glad that we're done with that bloody episode . Before you put the sand back in, and since you're intent on creating your own personal whirlpool/jacuzzi in your tank, are you open to to just placing a white acrylic sheet for a tank bottom? Shouldn't be too difficult though, but I'd expect a bit of work for you in moving and remounting all the wall mounted corals. I did this in my sperimental tank, and it looks pretty good to me :thumbsup:...It's easier to spot detritus, you get the white background for the top down pics, and no more sand all over the bloody place.... Just a thought....

The scape's looking great and I hope to see some more "Chosen Ones" in there :thumbsup:

I think i am a geriatric tbh because i spent all the last year thinking i was 48 until my birthday arrived and the cards all said happy 48 - turns out i was 47 so what i basically did was time travelled back a year on my birthday. It may be a groundhog day time loop for all i know...............

The sly stylo has been stinging my cool fluoro polyped acro when i wasn't watching. See the two dead tips, also the stupid left over bits of a greeny purple pukey looking acro i removed have encrusted madly and the stupid thing is attacking the same acro the stylo is going for. It's also swallowing a small SSC frag and about to go after the little blue frag top right.

This acro will soon be terminated............ terminated with extreme prejudice.........:strooper:

Here's a little slow mo video of the assassin stylo with his sweepers out, there's a 1/4" gap between the polyps yet the stylo has sensed the approaching acro and is attacking well before either will make contact with the other. The stylo has in effect smelled the acro approaching from below.
