My 65 Gallon Mixed Reef

Hey Biggs, what sand are you using?

I use 3-5mm coral sand - that's what the LFS call it anyway. It's a good size with SPS water flow.

Wow mate, that piece of Echinata looks SWEET! So does the purple/blue looking one beneath...I need a snipet of that Echinata Biggles... :sad2:

Thanks mate but i'm pretty sure it's a speciosa not an echi. It grows very sparse branches a bit like the old neglected wild rose bushes outside a house i walked past on the way to school as a child. Boxboy had an encounter with one of those roses........ my backside had an encounter with mom's hand after he ratted me out but those marks didn't show unlike Boxboy who looked like he dove into a pool filled with razor blades............ good times......

That purple with blue pigments and fluro polyps grows great in low light and looks best down near the sand. That's one of the bullet proof acros that hardly missed a beat despite the crash. I have two other small colonies now and they pop against lighter colored acros.

Nice addition. There are a few people in the UK who would kill for a piece of the purple with blue...:eek1:

Have you caught the Anthias yet??? I want to see the Flame Angel in the display. Or is that never going to happen???

- PS my buddies almost talked me out of getting any dwarf Angels because of the tendency of these fishes to bite SPS polyps, but also EAT FLUBBER! :uhoh2:

There is not a single acro polyp out on anything whatsoever in the sump............ I don't know when he's doing it because i haven't seen him do it but i do know that Barry has betrayed my trust...... little red $#%#@ !!!!
I haven't done anything about the stinking anthias yet, did i mention the yellow tang tries to cut me with his razor blade every time i try to do something in the tank lately.

I like my clowns, potatohead and ratboy......... that's it, all the other fish are turds. This is what happens when i try to be all fishy like everyone else. :mad2:

I've got a scar from lefty (the tang that lives on the left side of my tank) and I wear it proudly. This is how I learned that when a tang starts backing into you it's not being friendly. :lol:

Thats a good price...at my LFS they cost £150 upwards which is like $275 Aussie dollars...

Meh...thats nothing. I got a scar from my 14inch Oscarfish I used to keep in my freshwater days...that fish used to draw blood easily with every bite...cleaning the tank was quite a horrifying ordeal...

The going rate for nice flames is $100- Rory and when a big batch of imported ones come in they go for $49- but they don't have the same brilliance in their colors as the GBR ones.

Yep, the yellow tries to back up against me and i have to swat at him a few times before he takes off and hides. I was looking at the orange pav thinking ' might stick another acro on you...' when the tang came over and gave me that look cause he knows what it means when i stare at a spot a lot.......

I'm not scared, just apprehensive........... ( i really am scared - he's a territorial psycho )

Wow, I've missed sooooo much!!! I'm not even gonna start commenting on every single coral that I like in the tank since that would take forever! But wow!!!

The tank looks absolutely fantastic! I really really love the scape!!! While I do enjoy bonsai scapes, to me, recreating a NATURAL scene is priceless....and that's exactly what you've achieved. To me, the tank looks better than it ever has been....I'm bloody jealous as usual...

I've been in hiding and will now retreat into my quiet corner of the world, popping out occasionally, to jab at unsuspecting victims like a certain crab we know

Wow biggles, things are back to a kaleidoscope of colors over there and looking good! :bounce1:

Seems like there is a lot going on over there with the rescaping and setting back up. It looks good, but pretty empty with all that grow-out space right now. I think you need to fill it up a bit more ;-) Or give your chorals some GRT (Gamma Radiation Treatment) so they grow even faster :eek1:

Although if you do use GRT, you may end up with a tank full of green chorals since the hulk turned green after getting dosed. Hahaha. And we all know how much you would love a tank full of all green GIANT irradiated chorals :lolspin: :bum:

Keep the posts up as things are looking good right now. Just a reminder, with the re-setting of everything, it might be a good time to pick a few pieces to start taking some comparison growth shots. I know I'd love to see how big/fast a choice frag or two from the new set up changes over the next bit of time and things fill in.
