My 65 Gallon Mixed Reef

Glad to hear the clowns have paired as it would be a pain if they didn't. The scape looks good, but I personally don't really like scapes that are just one level. But I think that is only going to be a short term thing as when those corals grow it will look great. You've certainly got a lot more growing room now and I think the fish will like it a lot more, good job mate:beer:

It's just the perspective of that pic that gives you the impression it's anything like one level Rory, there are four individual rock outcrops at differing heights separated by sand in the scape but i bet you can't pick them all lol. :)

Looks fantastic Biggles, I like the scape, very natural looking and will look good when the corals are larger IMO.

I got lucky adding a male clown as well, but they continue to ignore my anemone.

We need more pics and more info as to how everything is going. :D

I feel quite ashamed now. The answer is no.
I am happy your tank has bounced back. Hopefully you will have clear sailing for awhile. And you will be more in the mood to post more.
By the way, does tour new clown have a name. Does the clownfish pair have a hollywood name like, TomCat, Benifer, BrAnjelina,?

Marty

I have a new wild caught perc which paired up with my clown the second he hit the water :)

Can your mom do this Marty..........

Wow, Love it mate!

Wow, Love it mate!

Wow mate, looks bloody awesome. As always your corals are an assortment of rainbow colours. Very happy for you that things are looking positive...Hopefully Bello will report the same...

So whats happening with Barry? Are you going to fish out the Anthia Mafia gang and place Barry into a tank full of SPS?

I've been wondering on adding one of the dwarf angels...but not sure how badly the SPS will be affected...hopefully your Barry is a true wimp and is scared of the SPS too. :p

PS Kevin asked me to post the pic below and stated that he is completely neutral in relation to this fish war...

Looks fantastic Biggles, as does the bird. I have one of those pointy seri's that likes to poke holes in my hand and then break off. The fish love fresh blood in the water.

Hi mate, I am not just saying this, but seriously that's a true slice of a reef! Reminds me of the pic below:

You do realise we want professional quality top down shots of those acropora now...none of those quick iphone snaps ok... :p

Thanks Mark, i only like the dangerous pointy ones lol. Potatohead attacks any cuts on my hand when i'm fiddling and it bloody hurts. I have to swat him away like a blowfly as he's a vampire shrimp now. :hammer:

Hey Sahin, how are bubs and mom going ?

As always you're too generous with your compliments but thank you anyway mate. :)
A real SPS reefer like me would have pushed his wife into the acros as an anchor point so he could harvest some of those beauties with his free hand.......... :p

Center of the pic - 3/8" baby clam living in an acro. His name is Terry in case you wondered Sahin and i placed the acro right at the front so we can all keep an eye on Terry  I used a torch to light the dark tank instead of the flash.
The speciosa is one of my favorite acros btw so it's right at the front too :p

Biggles, Terry looks cute...so tiny...I had one of those tiny clams hitchhike on a liverock many years ago (when we used to get quality liverock...not the crap we get now...). I used to also check with a torch now and again in the nights to check he was ok.

Sweet Speciosa mate! That species is on that endangered list...so keep it safe...we may not see much of it in the hobby.

I have one important issue I want to ask your advise about Biggles, and that is GAC/Carbon use. I think I recall you use it passively and possibly only a few days monthly...

Well, in my last setup I didnt really use GAC, and always used to notice when looking through the side of the tank that the colour of the water was always somewhat yellow...I used to use Ozone to clear it up...but the Ozoniser is now damaged and I cant be arsed to buy a new one.

Do you notice yellowing of your tank water much? How often are you using GAC and how much of it?

Thanks in advance mate.

Here's a quick top down phone snap at night of the bottom back of the tank with the flash just to annoy you Sahin....... It annoyed the stupid banggai as well which was a bonus :p

I use a cup of Rowacarbon passively in the sump between the baffles 24/7. I change it once a month. A week without it and i can see the shine leave the water. I have always run carbon this way except for the odd times i pull it when things are going bad and i'm grasping at straws trying to save corals....... i know you know what i'm talking about as does my little mate Bello - we haven't forgotten you buddy :)

The little acro crab that also lives in that acro was pulling algae off Terry last week while i watched lol. Terry didn't even close so i think he's used to a haircut every now and then when he starts making the place look shabby.

Nice Acros Biggs:). Terry is a cute little guy, do you know what type of clam he is? That's right mate, we haven't forgotten about you bello:beer:.

Biggles, that is a bloody good shot to show just how awesome your SPS colours are!

BTW Biggles, whatever happened to the T5 speriment? I thought you'd bought a T5 unit...?

And what happened to the "upgrade" or another "tank"...I'm so confused and lost... :wildone:

Have you kept clams in the past.I am sort of surprised you don't have a couple in your tank. Like a Crocea, Tridacnid, Squamosa, Maxima, or maybe a Gigas.

Marty

Hey Biggles have you got any pics of your 4x2x2 tank that you used to have?

Sorry mate but i don't, i had pics on a disc but that got lost when my marriage ended. I think Terry might be a scallop because the bottom side of his shell is completely covered in acro encrusting, only his lid is free of acro tissue.

I have 6 x T5's over Barry's tank but that's not looking too good compared to the display colors. I just changed the bulb combo to 3 x B+, actinic, purple and a coral+ so i'll see how that works. 4 x B+ and 2 x KZ new gen failed badly and browned out everything i dumped in Barry's tank lol.
I still want another tank but money is a big limiting factor as usual so who knows if and when i can set another display up.

I used to have three electric blue maxima's Marty but can't get them now, all the other clams i see at the LFS look like garbage compared to what i had so i won't buy a clam unless i see a ripper.

Tank looks great! Way to bounce back. That acro in the pic above is stunning!

Thanks mate, things are doing much better since the crash - i have drastically altered my water keeping methods post crash with great results so i won't be going back to how i did it the first 18 months. :)

Flubber hidden under the acros......
