MY 75 Gallon RR project and soon to be "former setup" DIAL UP BEWARE!

I hope you don't mind me dragging the Q&A back to the canopy :D How tall is your canopy? How high off the water does that put your lights?

Great job on the aquascaping. Very nice.

Canopy is about 15 inches tall. Lights sit about 9 inches from the water's surface since I used spacers. I plan on keeping the lights about 8 inches, but would like to see what kind of heat issues I may have with 9 inches high. I can use longer spacers in the future to adjust height.

Why the spacers? And what are they made of? (thank you thank you thank you!)
Spacers to lower the whole reflector/mogul socket to adjust the height AND to provide better airflow on top of the reflector. See the fan behind (or on top rather) of the reflector...

Home Depot sells 1" aluminum tubing spacers. You can cut your own from a whole aluminum tube (I had these lying around for my 5 foot RC plane I was building last year)and use a Screw inside to adjust and/or hold it in place.

Disregard the A,B,C and D letters. See the fan behind the reflector? More cooling!

MOVING DAY!!!

MOVING DAY!!!

Tank has been transferred from my 55 to the 75 gallon. After weeks of procrastinating, I finally did it. I ALMOST ran out of salt too.....now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the Corals didn't go through too much stress. Some of these colonies were unbelievably huge. MADE me WONDER how they ALL fit in my 55 gallon tank. On a funny note, It took me an extra hour and a half to find all my frags "SPOTS" on their new reef flat........

YES, ALL THIS WAS IN MY 55.....but wait, these were the frags and clams ONLY.

THESE were the bigger colonies, sitting in a deeper tub of water.

2 more colonies, the cap and Acro in a TropicMarin Salt Bucket

just a few interesting shots for size comparison....

I like it :)
You gettin' enough flow?

I would say 75% to what I expected. I had to supplement the initial setup with 2 MJ1200's to blow off excess mucus that the corals were producing due to the transfer. I was thinking of making some kind of closed loop system, but will probably leave the MJ's in there as a temporary fix. I was thinking Seios but I've seen pictures of it in a 75, and it's huge!

Tank is BB, just like my 55. I opted not to use starboard because:
1. I was too lazy to get it
2. I've seen detritus get trapped along the edges
3. I was too lazy to look for it
4. I'm afraid it might turn brown eventually
5. I was too lazy to cut it even if I did look for it and get it!!!

Tank with stand and hood pics coming later tonight. I didn't get done until 2 am'ish............
