my 80 gal inwall project

Looks great! Sorry to hear about your copperband - they seem very difficult to keep alive.

Have you had any more problems with the microbubbles?

well i installed the filter socks today, i will give it a day or two, i have to much debri floating around right now, i will post tomorrow if the filters did the job.

well it looks like the socks are keeping the microbubbles at bay, its been 3 days and the socks are really dirty, how often in your experience to change the filter socks.

I've only used one for two weeks now. I find myself changing it every three or four days. I have a small bioload right now, though.

Some people buy four or five socks and when they're all dirty, throw them all in the wash with a little bleach. I haven't done this, as I only have one sock and it wouldn't be too practical!

I found that machine washing them does something to the material allmost seems like It tightens It up more If that makes sense. I washed It In the machine one time and It only took 2 days till the sock was filled up again. Now I just jet It out with the garden hose Inside and out and then dry It In the sun for day and that seems to give me another week and half use out of It.

so are you telling me that when they stop working they overflow??, ohh crap, i got the socks installed above the tank which if they clog up they will spill water into the floor, i will have to submerge them, one other thing i noticed is that the flow is reaaaallllyy slooooowwww, meaning no turbulence in the water, and the top layer of water in sump and fuge are stagnate and are getting a thin layer of cyano.

This probably doesn't help much now, but your baffles are up/down/up. Which means your flow goes under/over/under. It might help if they were reversed. The baffles should be down/up/down so the flow goes over/under/over. That really helps eliminate the stagnant surface film.

Also, the first baffle, which should be to the floor of the tank, keeps substrate in the compartment. You have a thin layer of substrate in your sump, but if it were any higher, it'd probably block the flow through the baffles.

i know, i got it backwards, i noticed the problem that i put the baffles in the worng way, i will have to do some water agitation, man this thing is driving me crazy, move here, put there, cut it, lower it, it doesn't matter how i do it, theres always a better way.

I have a suggestion. Why don't you just remove that first baffle - the one holding in the stagnant surface? Then your flow would be over/under. Just an idea.

well i need a sugestion on lights, this is an enclosed tank and heat might be an issue, and i have a glass crossbrace right in the center of the tank, any experiences with mh and t5, thanks for all your help guys.

ps im thinking of getting a vortech powerhead for the middele of tank for more flow and to control cyano, i would like to hear any reviews or suggestions before i go out and spend more than 400 dlls, thanks

hello guys, how are you, a little update on my tanks, its been almost 2 months now and only had a fanworm die on me, i went thru a bad cyano outbreak but its now dying off

thats the last of it, another thing is that i made a denitrifier and installed it 7 days ago, at first i was getting a lot of nitrite and nitrate thru it, but after 7 days my nitrite is almost gone and my nitrates are at 0 (ZERO), finally something to control my nitrates, here are some pictures
here is my denitrator hooked up to a bucket, this is done at first so as not to put anything you dont want into your tank
