personally I like VHOs better as this is what a lot of amazing SPS tanks use but T5's usually have better par and more bulb options. There also more expensive. The URI super actinics really make the greens, reds, and oranges pop.
I agree. Look at Peter's tank, makes me want to switch to T5's.
Mark, I am working Saturday and am leaving for the Bahamas on Sunday. Are you available anytime this week or are you busy with work? I can wait if you want but I figured you wanted the space for your stuff. LMK.
I'm only running the lights for 4-6 hours a day with fans until I get my chiller. This way I don't get more than a 2 degree flux. I'm still not sure which chiller I want.
Here is an update for you guys. Things are coloring up well and nitrates are at 2. I should be adding a blue throat trigger within the next week. Things still have a lot of coloring up to do.
Originally posted by Pico1 I got my new tank last night and got it all put together and in place today. I going to focus on SPS in this tank
Does your canopy open like these front or on top? I went to lfs and the 48x18 was top opening not like the much better front opening, like the ones pictured below. Hoping they have change the designed for the 90g.
Nice tank! How is your nanostream wavemaker doing so far? Do you think it works better than turning the pumps on and off or set them on a controller?
I'd be careful with a blue throat trigger, I bought one from Exotic, he kept jumping into my overflow box (my tank top is covered with glass) and I might have to let him go:
jacmyoung, thanks! It's working great so far! I would rather put them on a controller but it's quite a bit more expensive to do that. I'm pretty happy with the random flow I'm getting. I wish I would have known before I reserved mine, I would have taken him off your hands. I just added mine today and he is VERY shy so far. He is afraid of the chromis!
I used 40 pounds of the bagged live sand and 2 pounds of crushed coral for the bare bottom areas caused by all the flow. It was more than enough for a 1.5" average depth sandbed. I can't get an even depth because all the flow puts it in piles.
