My Acan LPS Tank

Hey. This is my first marine aquarium. I started the hobby a few months ago. Started purchasing different types of coral and slowly realized that I like pretty much only acans, with favias as well.

I remember the Acan Dominated Thread of someone elses acan tank, so I decided to start my own thread. Most of the acans were added to my tank in the past month. The tank is roughly 2 months old. I will update as time progresses.

Photos taken with cell phone. Will get a camera soon to take much better photos.

About 95% of the acans were purchased from a few local wholesalers. I have bought a couple of pieces from a local store too. I am fortunate enough to live in Miami where the reef tank market is large so there are a lot of wholesalers and nice pieces. I have definitely gone on a coral binge in the past month to say the least. I like variety and am always hunting around for odd colors. Some of my favorite acans in that tank are the blue ones as well as the teal colored ones.

Using the camera on my phone doesn't do the corals justice. I use photoshop just to make an effort at getting the blue out. Once I get a good camera and stop using my phone the photos will look real nice. The color on some of the acans, when seen up close, are really cool.

I want to come shopping at your tank!! I also do 90% acans and favias and recently lost a lot of my favorites..beautiful tank.

I went to a local fish store and picked up 2 more acans. One is a really nice pink coloration.

The second acan is near death. I bought the sickly acan for a very low price. It looked great a week ago in the store but seems to have suffered from grey jelly disease or something. I rinsed all of the goo off of it and placed it in the tank. I also put a couple of hermit crabs around it so hopefully they will clean it more. The copepods in my tank may help clean it too.

Hopefully I can nurse the second acan back to life. I enjoy challenges. Will keep updating on its progress.

Very nice collection! I love acans but don't have much luck with them. May I ask what kind of lights you use?

I completely forgot to put specs of my tank.

It is a 75gallon
