My Anemone just ate...

So my anemone has just eaten my Toadstool Frag

The frag was around 3 inches in diameter and the anemone is a condy. I was moving the frag when the anemone had a stray tentacle grab hold of it, I tried to pry the tentacle off when around 5 more tentacles grabbed hold and dragged it to the anemone. Silly nem. Silly me...

Ill be surprised if the nem doesn't spit him out, then again, I'll be surprised if he does. The nem is a monster, he didn't even have a second thought about downing it. Does anyone know if the frag has any chance of surviving if the nem does release him?

I do believe the digestive juices will just about obliterate the flesh of the toadstool. While it is possible, I highly doubt any positive outcome.

I would like to see it when it comes out, just to see. I do not think there is any reaction problem, but you might want to look up toxins just to make sure.

I researched while i was typnig this:

"The Sarcophyton sp. tend to produce a lot of toxic compounds compared to other leathers. The Common toadstool leather is one of the better understood leathers. According to the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, and several other notable Bioscience institutions around the world, there are properties in the cells of this coral found to slow leukemia. With the production of toxins however, care must be taken when handling. They are also toxic toward other corals due to their release of terpenes (poisons used to ward off encroaching corals). They have been known to harm some stony coral species of Acropora like the Staghorn Acropora A. formosa, some species of Porites like P andrewsii, as well as the death of Catalaphyllia, Euphyllia, and Plerogyra species" (http://animal-world.com .

Ya condy's can be pretty darn aggressive esp when hungry, do you feed him on the reg? If he does fully consume the coral it's probably not gonna be recoverable afterwards.

If feed him every 2 - 3 days a piece of krill. He is very aggressive, although he is pretty, I am afraid he may need to go if he continues.

I have just been to check on him and it looks like the coral may not be sitting well with him. He looks a little bloated, his mouth is funny lookin and he looks more "scraggy". I took a few shots and my mobile is taking a time lapse as we speak, if he spits it out, I wanna see :)

On one of the photos, the anemone has his mouth open slightly and you can see the coral.

That was sweeet!!! It looked like the bottom tentacles were saying "blech-eck-bleeeeeh- eeeeeeeeh-bleeeeccccch"

That was a really cool video! How is the toadstool fairing now?

Thank you, both anemone and toadstool are non the worse. The toadstool turned yellow after the encounter, but is fine now.
