I dont know ANYTHING about nudibranches.. but my lfs sold me a lettuce nudibranch yesterday to take care of a lil bit of green hair algea

I just got home from the gym and this white stuff was coming out of the nem. i thought it was sperm and i grabbed the camera... after a few minutes my nudibranch was spit out. Its still alive!

not sure im going to put it back in the tank or not... but im wondering if nudis are posioness or if anything bad my come of this.

i dont know if they're poisonous, but i think i did hear some reason why they're not really recomended for aquariums..might have had something to do w/what they eat...and they sold it to you to get rid of hair algae? turbo snails and ceriths all eat mine...along w/hermits sometimes.

Many nudibranchs eat anemones. Better check to make sure of your nudibranch species (I am not familiar with them).

it died shortly afte anyways. but i have full confidence he wouldent have sold it to me if it would have been an issue.

Im not going to worry about it, but i do need to get this green algea in check. I notice a few new tufts everyday. Im going to get some new snails tomorrow. I already have scarlet and blue hermits, certh snails, narrious, astreas, and 'black turbo snails'...

black turbos wont do nothing...i thnk the lfs tells me that they're for cyano, but i dont know if i really believe them..seems too easy lol..

anyways, try just regular turbos...mine eat the grean pretty fast.

ive never had a reg turbo cause there so darn big. but i guess i can try em out.

"The Green Lettuce Nudibranch may also be referred to as the Lettuce Nudibranch, or Lettuce Sea Slug, although it is not a true nudibranch." It prefers an aquarium with live rock so that it can graze on algae. The Lettuce Sea Slug incorporates the chloroplasts (the portions of the cell responsible for photosynthesis) from the algae into its tissues, and thus relies on photosynthesis for part of its energy."

I feel bad, I really liked the lil guy. he has a perma smile. it was cool.

If I am not mistaken, I think Saccoglossan slugs do exude distasteful compounds, though I doubt it is anything truly harmful.

This happened to me once and my nudibranch died within a day on being stung by the anenome, same type on anenome and nudi too!
