i have the biocube stock lighting and for some reason the wiring in the actinic light broke. im getting the nova t5 in 2 weeks so do you think the anemone can survive with only 40watts for 2 weeks? hes real high up and im trying to feed him a lot more than usual. he is very hardy doing great with only 78watts of light, very sticky, no bleaching, and eating a lot.

I have seen pictures of yours before, and it looked like it was already stretching out for more light, so I would keep an eye on it during the next two weeks. It won't die from the lower light in the next 2 weeks, however it could move, so make sure that any powerheads and intakes are covered.

When you do get your new lights, make sure to acclimate it to the new lights. IMO, screening works so much better then just shorting the photo-period. Think of it this way, you can still get sun burnt, if you haven't be out in the sun much, in less then an hours --- akin to a shorter photo-period. But, you can stay out outside all day and not get burnt with the proper sunscreen unit you get used to the sun -- akin to using screening.

Although the actinics are very important to the anemone, they don't count in the watts per gallon when (working with anemones.) So basically you have just been keeping them under 24w of light the entire time. It will be very good when you upgrade to the T5s!

yea im gonna do the window screaning thing. stretchin its foot to get closer to light isnt a bad thing, right? he hasnt been doing than lateley btw

I wouldn't say it is a bad thing, but it isn't a good thing. Its not something I would want an anemone to be doing long term.
