My Anthias have some sort of DEATH WISH!

YOU have been ignored!
So a few months ago I purchased 4 (umm I think Bartlet) Anthias, you know the real pretty yellow with the sortof pink highlights... Now I am down to 1!!! All of the other 3 jumped out of the #%@# tank! Just had another one end it all last night.

Personally I think Cindy is scaring them running around the house in my old flannel shirts and wool socks :eek1:

Are these guys bigtime jumpers or what? They are beautiful fish and kinda pricey when you buy several of them just to see them stuck to the hardwood floor! I know it doesn't help that my aquarium has an open top.

Yeah Mike thats the problem... I've just got a pendant that hangs above the tank. I was thinking about rigging up some sort of netting (I know its tacky) to drape down somehow over the fixture to hopefully give the fish a shot at not flopping out of the tank. I don't want the screen to be dense enough to restrict the air from fans though. I'd only use it when I was away at work.

Sounds like a trip to the hardware store!

Anthias do jump. I have 2 tri-color anthias in my tank and I have had one of them jump out of my tank. Fortunately I was present when he made the "leap o'faith" and he survived. They still reside in my tank with only a suspended light above them and I have been told to put tops on my tank . I don't want to cut down on the light in the tank so I haven't done anything about it. I am trying to keep a coral tank, not a fish tank.
I learned the hard way as you have and soon the tank they are in is going to become a FOWLR tank so the glass tops will be put on it.

I feel your pain. Mine is almost a skeleton behind the tank now. Give it another week...nothin but bone ...ewww! :(

Just a good picture of it once upon a time when it was clean :D

Thanks but I'd be embarrased to show you my equipment in the stand. Pretty rigged up... I am DYING to see your setup Mike..

Yeah thanks Gary I'd like to have something similar to that but with my totally open top (no bracing whatsoever) there really isn't a way to make something like that look nice.

The garden netting is attached to a screen frame around it's perimeter. The whole contraption sits on top of the aquarium. another suggestion:
I've kept several Anthias species over the years. Many species won't jump like Bartlett's. Try another species of Anthias.
