My attempt at breeding black clowns (in a 28 gallon mixed reef)

Tahoe Reefer. Let me know if you need some help. I'm in Sacramento and I travel across to Reno quite often for business so I'm always by your neck of the woods. This forum really got me into the breeding bug a couple of months ago. My pair of true percs started spawning a few months ago and through some trials and tribulations and all the great help from everyone on this forum I'm now on batch #4 and the 5th batch is due next Wednesday. I also have a tank waiting now for a pair of snowcasso's that I bought from Doni. Can't wait to get those in.

The first batch of clowns are now 62 days old. Here is a short video of them that I took today.

The 4th batch of eggs will be hatching soon but I have not decided if I am going to collect them or not. There are only so many clowns one person can keep!

I think I am overdue on an update. The first batch of clowns are now 83 days old and the second batch is 46 days old.
Here is a quick video of the second batch.

The adults have their 5th set of eggs but I don't plan on doing anything with them.

Sorry I didn't see your last post. I've sold about 700 to date. They range in age from 6-10 months old I'd say.

Very cool, thanks!

I got another group of eggs! She laid about 200 of them in the same place last night. In unrelated not so good news, I found two dead clowns in the middle batch today. The size difference between these brothers is a lot larger than I would have expected.

I have not had any other deaths in a very long time so I was really disappointed to find these two. I guess I need to ramp up my tank maintenance.

What is up with this big guy? His eyes are bulging out and he looks like a blimp!

Should I remove him and put him in another tank? I am about to go out of town for several days. He looks a little better today and none of the other fish look like this.

I would remove him. If he dies you don't want him to foul the water for all the others.. You can treat him in a separate tank too if you want. Honestly I don't think most breeders do. When you have thousands of fish setting up a treatment for 1 fish that possibly is prone to getting sick just isn't an option.

I sold my adult pair today. It was hard to do but I want to reduce the number of tanks that I have and breaking down the 28 gallon looks like the best option. I still have lots of the babies though =)
